This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 19

9:35 a.m.: Don S. Mather Jr., 58, of the 1200 block of West Fourth Street was arrested after the SPD's criminal investigations bureau began an investigation into possible child sex crimes that had been occurring in the home. On June 19, a search warrant was served and Mather was arrested. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold while charges were requested for three counts of first-degree child molestation, three counts of statutory sodomy, three counts of incest, and three counts of sexual misconduct involving a child.

June 20

4:47 p.m.: Pablo Rodriguez Ubaldo, 18, of the 300 block of East Clay Street, was arrested after an officer performed a traffic stop for a lane violation near East Second Street and South Washington Avenue. Ubaldo had no operator’s status or proof of insurance and was cited, given a court date, and released.

June 24

1:02 a.m.: Jenny Lee Schwermer, 40, of the 900 block of Fifth Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop for failing to maintain a lane in the 800 block of South Limit Avenue. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where illicit drugs were located in her property. She was placed on a 24-hour hold for fugitive from justice, possession of a controlled substance, and introduction of a controlled substance into a jail facility.

2:24 a.m.: Travis James Harris, 43, of the 1000 block of South State Fair Boulevard, was arrested after police responded to the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for vehicles in the lot not conducting business. Harris was observed on an electric motorcycle/dirt bike, disobeying the signal light back and forth between Kentucky Avenue and Broadway Boulevard. Harris was intoxicated and was arrested for driving while intoxicated - prior offender. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

5:34 p.m.: Joseph Henry Hendrix, 44, of the 1400 block of South Missouri Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to the 1400 block of South Vermont Avenue in reference to possible trespassing. Hendrix was located in the backyard of a residence where he did not belong. He had entered a detached garage and was pulling weeds out of a fence line when located. Hendrix was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of first-degree trespass.

10:03 p.m.: Andrew D. Dotson, 35, of the 700 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested after officers received multiple calls about fireworks being shot off in the 700 block of East 10th Street. Officers initially issued a verbal warning and informed the residents about city ordinances against fireworks. After leaving the area, officers were called after neighbors said they were shooting fireworks again. Police returned to the address and spoke with the residents once again, this time conducting a custodial arrest and issuing a city court summons to Dotson for the illegal discharge of fireworks within the city limits.

10:24 p.m.: Derek H. Tjaden, 33, of Wichita, Kansas, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and Winchester Drive. Tjaden had a suspended driver's license and was issued a summons.

10:25 p.m.: Jessica S. Jones, 25, of the 1500 block of Crestview Drive, was arrested after a vehicle stop near East Seventh Street and South Washington Avenue for no plate lights. Passenger Jones was found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and transported to the Pettis County Jail for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of dangerous drugs.

11:58 p.m.: Sarita Linda Leon, 61, of the 600 block of East Washington Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to a business in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a female trespassing at the business. Employees asked her to leave twice, but she returned each time. Leon was transported to the Pettis County Jail for first-degree trespassing.

June 25

2:04 a.m.: Darlyn Lessoy, 30, of Parkville, was arrested after a vehicle stop near Oak Grove Road and Broadway Boulevard for failure to maintain a lane and suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Lessoy was intoxicated, her driver's license was revoked, and she had four young children completely unrestrained in the car. Lessoy was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated, driving without a license, and no insurance.

2:27 a.m.: Luis Fernando Cardenas Rojas, 23, of California, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop for no plates in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard. Rojas was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and failure to maintain financial responsibility.

11:10 a.m.: Lori Lynn Hadley, 51, of the 1600 block of Engineer Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a trespassing complaint. Hadley was lying in the walkway next to the building and she was arrested for first-degree trespass and probable misuse of 911. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

June 26

12:14 a.m.: Eric Alan Fizer, 38, of the 1300 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop near East 14th Street and South Ohio Avenue after nearly colliding into a patrol vehicle in the opposite direction, disobeying a stop sign and failing to signal. Fizer was intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending a felony charge of driving while intoxicated - alcohol/persistent offender.

Incidents

June 19

529 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1300 block of East Fifth Street for a report of a disturbance. Contact was made with multiple subjects who had been fighting. The subjects were separated and charges were submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor for domestic assault on two of the male subjects.

June 20

3:22 p.m.: An officer responded to West Broadway Boulevard and South Stewart Avenue for a hit-and-run accident. The victim had minor injuries. The suspect was quickly located and was issued a summons for no insurance and expired registration. Charges of leaving the scene of an accident have also been requested.

June 21

3:58 p.m.: An officer responded to a theft report in the lobby of the police department. The complaint stated an in-home care worker possibly stole $240 from her parents in the 2800 block of Station Avenue while providing services. The case remains under investigation.

June 22

11:38 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of South Garfield Avenue in reference to property damage. The caller said someone threw a break through the front window of her residence. No arrests have been made.

June 23

5:04 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the police department lobby in reference to an alleged assault by unwanted physical contact that occurred at a business in the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard.

6:43 p.m.: Officers took a report over the phone in reference to fraud. The reporting party stated someone accessed her vehicle insurance account and made unauthorized changes. No suspects have been identified.

6:55 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1100 block of East 10th Street for an accident report. The victim stated her vehicle was damaged at another location and she did not wish to pursue charges.

June 24

7:02 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1800 block of South New York Avenue in reference to a stolen vehicle. No suspects have been identified.

3:47 p.m.: An officer responded to the 700 block of East Ninth Street for a report of a theft. A male subject reported his motorcycle was stolen.

June 25

3:39 a.m.: Sedalia police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West Cooper Street for gunshots. They identified a vehicle with a bullet hole and a spent casing in the street. Several witnesses were identified but didn't provide many details.

9:16 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to Scott Joplin Court for a physical domestic disturbance in progress. The subject and victim were gone; the victim left with a friend and the suspect fled on foot toward the woods. Officers were able to identify and speak with the victim by phone after a witness identified her. The suspect was identified and charges are being requested for second-degree domestic assault and second-degree property damage.

June 23

8:07 a.m.: Jacob T. Forrester, 29, of Marshall, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released.

8:56 a.m.: Daniel R. Wiermann, 34, of Cole Camp, was arrested in Morgan County for driving with a suspended/revoked license and no seat belt. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

6:31 p.m.: Phillip D. Bodkins, 60, of Iowa, was arrested in Moniteau County for driving while intoxicated, prior offender and speeding. He was transported to the Moniteau County Jail.

9:06 p.m.: Zachary Hockemeier, 25, of Lynn Creek, was arrested in Morgan County for first-degree boating while intoxicated and operating a vessel with no navigational lights. He was released.

June 24

1:50 a.m.: Courtney M. Brothers, 26, of Blue Springs, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, a person less than 17 in the vehicle, following too closely, expired registration, and felony endangering the welfare of a child. He was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center and released.

1:51 a.m.: Jayme L. Savage, 20, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain a lane. She was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center and released.

5:09 p.m.: Corey L. Callahan, 24, of Deepwater, was arrested in Benton County for boating while intoxicated, violation of regulatory markers, and violation of the no wake zone. He was transported to the Benton County Jail and released.

6:53 p.m.: Martha R. Richardson, 67, of Kansas City, was arrested in Morgan County for boating while intoxicated. She was released to a sober party.

11.22 p.m.: Justin A. Buglovsky, 21, of Slater, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash. He was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center and released.

June 25

1:57 a.m.: Cheyenne N. Mings, 26, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and expired registration. She was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center and released.

10:06 p.m.: Renato C. Paat, 50, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, a lane violation, no driver's license, and failure to place the vehicle not in motion as far to the right as practicable. He was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center and released.
