This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

Oct. 30

2:13 p.m.: A woman from the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue entered the lobby of the police department to report money was taken from her bank account

2:48 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Dundee Avenue in reference to a property damage report. Sometime in the evening hours, a male in a blue passenger car shot up the house with a paintball gun.

4:10 p.m.: A man came into the lobby of the police department to report his vehicle had been broken into in the 2300 block of East 16th Street over the weekend. He described items stolen from the vehicle and a report was completed.

Oct. 31

10:02 a.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 100 block of East Walnut Street in reference to damage to the roof. Staff had discovered the roof of the building had a bullet lodged in it that caused damage and a subsequent leak. The bullet was recovered, but there is no further information.

4:13 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 300 block of North Iron Avenue in reference to a commercial alarm. Someone had cut a hole in the fence and entered the property. The subject was in the process of trying to gain entry into the building but fled on foot. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

Nov. 1

3:19 a.m.: An officer was checking the area of a business in the 3500 block of Green Ridge Road when they observed a door standing open on a unit. There was no one around, and the officer was unable to determine who owned the unit, so the door and lock were secured.

Arrests

Oct. 8

4:00 p.m.: Matthew Johnson, 33, of Warsaw, was arrested after deputies, with assistance from the Sedalia Police Department, located a stolen vehicle in the 1300 block of East Boonville Road. After a short foot pursuit, deputies apprehended the occupant of the vehicle, who was found in possession of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, a loaded gun, and other paraphernalia. Johnson was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon, and driving with a revoked license.

Oct. 20

10 a.m.: Shane Ruth was arrested after deputies located a stolen vehicle and stolen license plate in the 1800 block of East 12th Street. Ruth was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold for tampering with a motor vehicle.

Oct. 30

6 p.m.: Michael Taylor Jr. was arrested after deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Audi traveling north on Grand Avenue from Main Street. Taylor fled at a high rate of speed upon the deputy activating his emergency lights. After a brief pursuit, he was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail without further incident. He was placed on a 24-hour hold for resisting arrest by flight.
