Following a train robbery near the water tank outside Otterville at 2:37 a.m. on Aug. 24, 1890, Detective DeLong quickly organized a posse consisting of Sheriff Smith, Constable Ramsey, Deputy Constable Smith, Officer Frank Shackles, Bert Stryker, Dill Blair, and some Sedalia Bazoo reporters.
