UPDATED: Missing Sedalia woman reported safe

The Sedalia Police Department announced Friday afternoon, Dec. 2 that Melody O'Donnell has been located and is safe. According to a news release, she was located with a friend in another state.

SPD thanked the community for all the tips and help with the investigation.

The Sedalia Police Department has issued an endangered silver advisory for Melody Porter O’Donnell.

O’Donnell, 69, is a white female with blonde hair and blue eyes, estimated to weigh 215 pounds and be 5 feet tall. She has dementia and diabetes. 

She was last seen between 1 and 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 getting into an unknown vehicle wearing a green winter coat at her residence in the 900 block of East Sixth Street in Sedalia and has not been heard from since. O’Donnell is without her necessary medication. 

According to an SPD news release, officers took a missing person report for O’Donnell around 7 p.m. Nov. 30. 

“During the course of the investigation, detectives found that O’Donnell is reportedly in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and it was determined that a Silver Alert be issued for her to ensure her safety,” the release states. “Detectives are currently working leads to determine Ms. O’Donnell’s whereabouts.”
