Spring Fork remains closed from algae bloom

Posted

The City of Sedalia announced that Spring Fork Lake will continue to be closed through at least Aug. 1.

The closure, which started in June, is due to the continued presence of a potentially hazardous algae bloom on the lake. The extension was announced after an evaluation on Monday, July 25, determined that the lake should remain closed to the public.

Due to the continuing concerns related to the algae bloom, the City decided it would be in the best interest of public health for Spring Fork to remain closed until the algae has dissipated.

The City plans to continue evaluating the condition of the lake regarding the algae bloom to best determine a re-opening date for public recreational use.
