Leon "Pete" and Dianne (Junge) Stelling celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 22. Pete and Dianne had their first date as sophomores in high school, when they were both 15, and never dated anyone else after that. They were married on Sept. 22, 1961, at United Lutheran Church in Cole Camp by the Rev. George J. Herbert. Mr. Stelling is a retired attorney and Mrs. Stelling is a homemaker.
They have two children, a son, Lance P. Stelling, an attorney in Kansas City, and a daughter, Dr. Heather Stelling, an anesthesiologist, and her husband, Dr. William Bentz, of Joplin; and one granddaughter.
