The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for northeastern Pettis County, south central Saline County and southwestern Cooper County until 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 5.
According to information from NWS, at 7:10 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 8 miles east of Houstonia, or 12 miles north of Sedalia, moving east at 40 mph.
Locations impacted include Boonville, Pilot Grove, Bunceton, Hughesville, Blackwater, Lamine and Clifton City. This includes Interstate 70 in Missouri between mile markers 74 and 100.
People in these areas should take cover now. Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
