Pettis County added 23 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 5,136, according to the Pettis County Health Center.
There are now 17 active cases and 4,998 residents have been released to normal activity. Four residents are now hospitalized seeking treatment for the virus. There are zero individuals hospitalized.
According to the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing issued Monday, the positivity rate for April 22-28 was 4.35% with 20 new positives and 440 negatives.
“There was an increase in testing, which is good,” the briefing states. “Having a strong testing program helps to know how the disease is spreading more effectively.”
Pettis County has now vaccinated approximately 27.8% of the population with at least one dose. According to the state website, 11,768 Pettis County residents have received one dose and 9,936 have completed the two-dose series, which means approximately 23.5% of the population is fully vaccinated. Pettis County is falling behind the state rate of 37.7% with at least one dose and 28.7% fully vaccinated.
According to the briefing, there is no new update on the sewer shed project for the Sedalia area this week. There is information on the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website regarding the sewer shed project at https://bit.ly/3xJF5Gz.
The face covering rule for Pettis County will be discussed at the May 6 Pettis County Health Center Board of Trustees meeting, which will be available at www.facebook.com/PettisCountyHealthCenter starting at 4:45 p.m.
Pettis County Health Center will start having regular walk in clinics from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 11. First doses will be available as well as second doses for those unable to make their second dose appointment. Appointments are not required, but people can register by calling 660-827-1130.

“With the execution of a new health order issued by DHSS Acting Director Robert Knodell, effective Friday, April 30, Bothwell may begin vaccinating non-Missouri residents ages 16 and older,” the briefing states. “This includes complete COVID-19 vaccination series, as well as second doses of COVID-19 vaccines when an individual’s first dose was administered out of state.”
Bothwell is hosting the following Pfizer second-dose clinics this week; however, people may walk in for first doses as well: Wednesday, May 5, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bothwell Internal Medicine and 1 to 5 p.m. at Bothwell Truman Lake in Warsaw, and Friday, May 7, 1 to 5 p.m. at Bothwell Healing Arts Center.
A one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinic will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 7 in the Bothwell Healing Arts Center.
COVID-19 testing is available at the Bothwell Walk In Clinic located on the first floor of the Healing Arts Center. Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Katy Trail Community Health patients will be vaccinated by appointment. Community members may be vaccinated on Thursday between 1 and 5 p.m. Community members are asked to register at covidvaccine.mo.gov/navigator and contact Katy Trail Community Health to request an appointment time.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported a seven-day total of 2,574 cases on Monday or an average of 368 per day. There were a total of 10 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Missouri during the last seven days, representing an average of one death per day. There were 182,261 vaccines administered in the last seven days in Missouri for an average of 26,037 per day.
