Weekly Report: The commission attends meeting about North Highway 65

During the week of May 11  through May 16, the Pettis County Commission accomplished the following:  

Monday, May 11:

The Commission held a closed session pursuant to RSMo 610.021 (1) for legal.

IT Director Brett Denomme visited the Commission to discuss grants.

Tuesday, May 12:

The Commission approved the bid from Heartland Restoration for the exterior renovation and restoration of the Public Safety Building per the recommendation of Facilities and Grounds Director Chris Hoke. Present: Facilities and Grounds Director Chris Hoke, Voter Registration Clerk Kiley Sawyer.

The Commission approved an MOU between Pettis County Joint Communications and Cooper County Joint Communications.

The Commission held a bid opening for 75R2 and 134R2 aluminum box culverts. Bids were received from Viebrock. The Commission approved the bids.

The Commission met with Robert Rollings Architects.

The Commission met with 911 Communications Director Dannelle Lauder and Facilities and Grounds Director Chris Hoke to discuss proposed console quotes and mockups.

The Commission met with Gary Strack from Keystone KC and GIS and Grants Director James

Theisen to discuss the SS4A grant application.

Wednesday, May 13

Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza attended the 2026 World Cup Committee meeting.

Thursday, May 14

The Commission and Theisen virtually attended a meeting with MoDOT and Great Rivers Engineering to discuss North Highway 65. Present: City of Sedalia Councilman David Covington

The Commission met with Pettis County – University of Missouri Extension to receive a quarterly update and meet the new Youth Program Associate Alyse Laporte. Present: Council Member David Dick, Council Member Natalie Reed, Council Chair Patty Wood, Extension & Engagement Specialist Elaine Anderson, Field Specialist Gene Schmitz, and Youth Program Associate Alyse Laporte with Pettis County – University of Missouri Extension. Also present: Covington.

The Commission adopted the Pettis County Safe Streets for All action plan.

The Commission approved Change Order 8 for the Governor’s Cost Share project.

The Commission met with Tom McGuire, Brendan Hurley, and Eric Hage from Gallagher to discuss insurance.

The Commission approved the courthouse use form for May 15 for the Police Memorial Day ceremony and the courthouse use form for June 14 for the Elk’s Lodge Flag Day ceremony.

Treasurer Kim Lyne presented the Commission with the April financials.

Friday, May 15

The Commission attended the Police Memorial Day Ceremony and presented a proclamation for National Police Week.

Saturday, May 16

The Commission attended the 38th annual Wreath Laying Ceremony honoring 2nd Lt. George A. Whiteman.
