The Heckart Community Center, seen Thursday, is one of the "game changers" in Sedalia, according to City Administrator Kelvin Shaw. At the Sedalia City Council meeting Wednesday, Feb. 22, Shaw noted the industrial rail park, Katy Trail completion, and a diverse manufacturing base were also listed as keys to Sedalia's stable economy.

Ordinance to amend zoning makes it to Sedalia City Council
Monday evening, a public hearing was held in City Council Chambers to allow people to comment on the new zoning ordinance just sent to the Sedalia City Council. After months of work at the Planning and Zoning Commission, the proposed ordinance was forwarded to the council for approval, which could happen as soon as the next council meeting. more

Doris Thurston prepares to read the Langston Hughes poem, "Let America Be America Again," Monday, Jan. 16 during the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at Burns Freewill Baptist Church.
