This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Dec. 5

7:40 p.m.: James Allen Wright, 33, of Warsaw, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Lester G. Vass Jr., 44, of Warsaw, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer stopped Wright’s vehicle in the area of South Limit Avenue and West 32nd Street for expired license plates. Investigation during the stop resulted in the arrest of Wright and Vass, a passenger. Wright also had two active failure to appear warrants from the Sedalia Municipal Court.

8 p.m.: Amy Michelle Gravitt, 36, of Houstonia, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor identity theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree stealing. An officer was dispatched to the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a shoplifting report. The officer spoke with the suspect, Gravitt, who reportedly provided her sister’s identity. When the officer discovered Gravitt’s true identity, a computer check showed she had two active warrants from Benton and Pettis counties.

10:45 p.m.: Steven Jay Kimbrell, 48, of the 1100 block of East Fifth Street, was arrested on charges of forgery, misdemeanor identity theft and driving with a suspended license. An officer arrested Kimbrell after stopping his vehicle near South Summit Avenue and East Fifth Street. The officer also served warrants from Greene County and the Sedalia Municipal Court.

Dec. 6

5:40 p.m.: Nicholas D. Harves, 31, of Kansas City, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and unlawful transaction with a child. Jessica D. Jenkins, 34, of Kansas City, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Two officers checked a vehicle at a motel in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard. Harves was inside the vehicle, and Jenkins was standing outside the car. The officers noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, so they searched the two subjects and the car. They reportedly found Jenkins in possession of two controlled substances and a methamphetamine pipe. They found Harves had a syringe, marijuana and a methamphetamine pipe. Harves also had an active warrant from the Kansas City Police Department.

9:50 p.m.: Dustin S. Colvin, 30, of the 1300 block of East Boonville Street, was arrested on a charge of driving without a license. An officer stopped Colvin’s vehicle for a defective headlight in the area of South Missouri Avenue and West 14th Street. He arrested Colvin and a passenger who had a warrant from the City of Marshall.

Dec. 7

Midnight: Elizabeth Mae Jones, 19, of the 900 block of South Barrett Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer arrested Jones during a traffic stop in the area of South Moniteau Avenue and West Magnolia Street. A computer check revealed she had a suspended license and a Pettis County warrant.

Incidents

Dec. 6

11:05 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of West Seventh Street for a report of a theft. The victim said someone took $2,315 worth of items from her house and made purchases on a debit card from her home. The theft took place between Tuesday and Thursday. The victim gave the officer the name of a suspect. At the time of the report, the officer hadn’t located the suspect for questioning.

8:15 p.m.: Melissa M. Jackson, 29, of Climax Springs, was arrested in Benton County on charges of driving while intoxicated and speeding.
