Lake of the Ozarks motorboat explosion injures 17

A 2000 Carver cabin motor boat that was fueling up in the Osage arm of the Lake of the Ozarks in Morgan County exploded Friday when operator Matthew J. Simcox, 41, of O’Fallon, started the motor.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 15-year-old female from Weldon Springs was transported to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach by Mid-MO Ambulance District; Allyson J. Gaut, 18, of California, was transported to Lake Regional Hospital by private vehicle; Paige A. Sery, 19, of Weldon Spring, was transported to Lake Regional Hospital by private vehicle; and Katy L. Liebman, 34, of Weldon Spring, was transported to Lake Regional Hospital by Mid-MO Ambulance District.

Twelve others were treated on scene and released.

Lebanon woman injured in Benton County accident

Heaven L. Darner, 21, of Lebanon, suffered moderate injuries at 7:15 p.m. Monday in a Benton County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Darner was driving a 2005 Ford 500 south on state Route 7 when she crossed the centerline, traveled off the north side of the roadway, and struck the guard rail. A 2016 Ram 1500 driven by Heather M. Fox, 49, of Payola, Kansas, then struck the passenger side of the vehicle.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Garner was transported by LifeFlight Eagle to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
