Drunk driver one of seven transported after Johnson crash

A 1-year-old boy from Whiteman Air Force Base, Alexis M. Zook, 29, of Whiteman Air Force Base, a 1-year-old boy from Knob Noster, Holly L. Lancaster, 32, of Knob Noster, Guss Lancaster, 35, of Knob Noster, and Brittany Teal, 35, of Sedalia, all sustained serious injuries and Cody J. Taylor, 35, of Sedalia sustained moderate injuries at 6:58 p.m. Sunday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Zook was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion west on U.S. Highway 50 in the eastbound lanes and struck a 2021 Jeep Renegade driven by Holly Lancaster head-on. The Jeep spun out into the right lane, causing a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Cody Taylor to strike the passenger side of the Jeep. A 2018 Nissan Altima driven east by Betty J. Fisher, 38, of Carrollton, hit debris in the roadway.

Everyone involved was properly restrained. The two 1-year-olds were taken to Children's Mercy by Johnson County Ambulance District. Zook and Holly Lancaster were transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City by Life Flight. Guss Lancaster was taken to Research Medical Center by JCAD. Cody Taylor and Brittany Teal were taken to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by JCAD.

Zook, whose city of residence was listed as Grand Island, Nebraska on the arrest report, was arrested for felony driving while intoxicated, felony child endangerment, driving the wrong way on a divided highway causing a crash and careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash. She was released for medical treatment.

Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
