This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 21

4:32 p.m.: Cecil D. Henry, 43, of the 200 block of Southeast 101 Road, was arrested after an officer responded to the 1200 block of South Ohio Avenue for a vehicle check. On arrival, the plates were run through dispatch and came back stolen out of Kansas City, Missouri. The occupant in the vehicle was later arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released. A state charge of receiving stolen property is being requested.

April 23

1:40 a.m.: Ian M. Pennington, 22, was arrested after officers performed a vehicle check in a business parking lot in the 4100 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The officer made contact with the subject in the driver’s seat. The subject consented to a search of his person and vehicle. While searching the vehicle, the officer located a syringe filled with methamphetamine. Pennington was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail and is being held on a 24-hour hold. He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Incidents

April 21

12:02 p.m.: For an assist agency call, an officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of West 16th Street regarding a case of possible child abuse. Marks were present. 

3:13 p.m.: A victim reported a theft in the 300 block of East Fourth Street. An unknown person entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the street and stole miscellaneous items. The victim valued the theft at $50. The victim was advised to remove valuables from the vehicle, keep them out of sight, and lock the vehicle. At the time of the report, there was no suspect information. 

April 22

12:21 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Smith-Cotton Junior High School regarding a child abuse (non-sexual) investigation. Marks were present and a report was completed.

3:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of South Barrett Avenue regarding the missing person. A complaint stated the missing person had contacted his brother in Michigan and stated they were badly hurt but didn't say where they were. Attempts to find or contact the missing person have been unsuccessful. The person has been entered as missing.

4:15 p.m.: A victim reported a theft in the 300 block of East Fourth Street. Unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the street and stole miscellaneous items. The victim was advised to remove valuables from the vehicle, keep them out of sight, and lock the vehicle. At the time of the report, there was no suspect information.

5:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 600 block of East 14th Street in reference to a theft from an unlocked vehicle that occurred Wednesday. Multiple items had been stolen from the vehicle parked on the south parking lot. 

6:30 p.m.: An officer responded to the 2400 block of West Second Street in reference to a juvenile who kicked in the mother's bedroom door. The juvenile was uncooperative and has been referred to the juvenile office.

Incidents

9:46 a.m.: Deputies took a report for a burglary that occurred in the 28000 block of Route W in Pettis County. There were no leads or suspects at the time of the report.
