This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 25

8:06 p.m.: Brandon S. Wells, 42, of the 700 block of East 18th Street, was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of East 17th Street and South Collins Avenue. The driver was determined to be operating the vehicle with a revoked driving status and was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. 

April 26

12:48 a.m.: William M. Chapman, 37, of the 900 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested after a traffic stop at New York Avenue and Broadway Boulevard for no front plate and improper lane usage. The driver was transported to the Sedalia Police Department where he was fingerprinted and released with citations for driving with a suspended driver's license and no insurance. 

Incidents

April 20

1:35 p.m.: A complainant came to the police department to make a report of an incident where her juvenile son had reportedly almost been hit by a vehicle while riding his bike in the area of South Carr Avenue and West 16th Street.

April 21 

11:01 a.m.: Officers took a report in the lobby of the police department in reference to a possible harassment that occurred in the 300 block of West Third Street. The reporting party received threatening messages over Facebook. A report was made and charges of harassment were requested.

3:27 p.m.: A victim reported that a subject known to her attempted to run her over with a vehicle. The incident occurred in the backyard of a residence in the 500 block of North Moniteau Avenue. No contact has been made with the suspect at this time. 

11:38 p.m.: Christe Jo Ann Jackson, 55, of the 2300 block of West Fifth Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop on State Fair Boulevard at West Broadway Boulevard for moving violations and indicators of impaired driving. She was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, a hospital, then the Pettis County Jail, where she was placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold and charged with driving while intoxicated.

April 25

7:56 a.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 2800 block of West Main Street for a burglary report. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the owner who stated the window was damaged and cash was taken from the business. At the time of the report, a suspect has not been located.

9:46 a.m.: Officers responded to the 2500 block of Stephenson Avenue in reference to a theft from a vehicle. Around $68 worth of items were taken from a vehicle that was unlocked overnight. No suspects have been identified at this time. 

2:04 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 1200 block of West Main Street in reference to a burglary. The owner reported that entry had been forced into the west door of the business. The suspects caused damage to interior doors, exterior doors, and tanning beds. There are no suspects at this time. 

6:51 p.m.: An officer responded to the 500 block of South Grand Avenue in reference to a theft no longer in progress. The victim stated that a woman known to him refuses to give his gun back. A suspect has been identified but no contact has been made.

Arrests

April 25

10:09 a.m.: Jaime N. Riviera–Rodriguez, 26, of Olathe, Kansas, was arrested in Johnson County for a misdemeanor Bates County warrant and speeding. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail.

10:48 a.m.: Logan J. Parker, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for a felony resisting arrest, second-degree assault – special victim, failure to affix motor vehicle plates, purchasing a motor vehicle without transferring certificate of ownership, no seat belt, speeding, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, no insurance, failure to yield after stopping, failure to stop for a stop sign, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle sounding siren and displaying red and blue lights. Parker was released for medical treatment.

2:09 p.m.: Jonathon A. Terry, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

7:45 p.m.: Cody L. Marple, 38, of Versailles, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while intoxicated – first offense, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail.
