This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 1

2:49 p.m.: Shaykota Lynn Karrick Rumsey, 20, of the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 17th Street and Osage Avenue on a vehicle with expired registration. Ramsey was driving without a license or insurance and was arrested and released at the scene with a city summons.

April 2

9 p.m.: Richard Parris Hagan, 46, of the 1800 block of South Beacon Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center in reference to trespassing. The suspect fled the scene before officers’ arrival but was identified and they were able to make contact with Hagan later. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of fourth-degree assault and second-degree trespass.

Incidents

April 1

11:24 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a fraud report from the 3800 block of West Broadway Boulevard. A member of the LifePoint Church said they were scammed by someone claiming to be a pastor in an email. The member was directed to purchase approximately $1,200 worth of prepaid gift cards and the numbers were given to the scammer.

12:34 p.m.: A woman from the 2800 block of Graham Drive entered the lobby of the police department to report that $500 had been stolen from her on Facebook.

April 2

4:59 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1100 block of East 10th Street for a structure fire. They secured the scene and everybody in the home was able to exit without injury.

1:30 p.m.: Officers took a report that a vehicle drove away from a fuel pump at a business in the 1300 block of South Limit Avenue with a hose still attached. The driver of the vehicle later came back and left the hose at the pump without being identified.

8 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Greenwood Lane in reference to harassment. They collected information and a report was submitted.

10:40 p.m.: A man came into the police department lobby to report a theft from the 600 block of West Pettis Street on March 13.

Arrests

April 2

11:40 p.m.: Matthew K. Welch, 36, of Lenexa, Kansas, was arrested in Henry County for driving while intoxicated - persistent offender, speeding, and failure to comply with an ignition interlock system. He was transported to the Henry County Jail and released.

3:08 p.m.: Deanna L. Westenhaver, 61, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.
