This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 9

1:28 a.m.: Jeremiah John Komorowski, 38, of Warsaw, was arrested after a traffic stop near West Third Street and South Carr Avenue on a vehicle for swerving and failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. Komoroski was intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released for driving while intoxicated – prior offender.

Aug. 11

11:22 p.m.: Anthony Lamar Melton, 35, of Pembroke, Illinois, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a vehicle known to be driven by a subject required to register as a sex offender and known to have a suspended driver’s license. Milton was driving the vehicle with a dealer plate to avoid registration requirements. He was uncooperative and refused multiple directives to exit the vehicle. He was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of failure to register a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended driver's license.

Aug. 12

11:54 p.m.: Byron Augusto Tipaz Chiyoc, 52, of the 1300 block of East Seventh Street, was arrested after a traffic stop for failing to maintain the right-half of the roadway on Thompson Avenue near East Ninth Street. Chiyoc was intoxicated and was transported to the police department, issued a uniform traffic ticket for driving while intoxicated and released.

2 p.m.: Ryan M. Miller, 41, of Clinton, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 3800 block of West Broadway Boulevard for failing to maintain a lane. Miller was found to have a suspended driver's license and was arrested and released on scene with a summons for improper lane usage and driving without a license.

Aug. 13

3:04 p.m.: Jose Castelan Reyes, 26, of Smithton, was arrested after a traffic stop for speeding and failing to maintain a lane on East Broadway Boulevard near South Summit Avenue. The driver was intoxicated and did not have a driver’s license. Reyes was transported to the Sedalia Police Department and then the Pettis County Jail for driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license.

9:24 p.m.: Isaac M. Mosier, 22, of the 1400 block of South Carr Avenue, was arrested after officers responded in reference to a domestic assault. The reporting party stated a male known to her came home and assaulted her. Officers located Mosier in the residence and arrested him. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending a charge of third-degree domestic assault.

Aug. 14

9:08 p.m.: Cowan Dean Sorenson, 25, of the 600 block of North Quincy Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to a potential domestic disturbance. An investigation showed a domestic assault had occurred. Sorenson was located nearby and placed under arrest for third-degree domestic assault. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.

10:40 p.m.: James L. Hedrick, 62, of the 1000 block of East Third Street, was arrested after officers responded to a disturbance. Hedrick was intoxicated and, after an investigation, was arrested for two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, third-degree domestic assault, and two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Hedrick was taken into the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

Incidents

Aug. 8

3:47 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of the Thompson Hills Shopping Center. The victim stated the suspect vehicle backed into their vehicle and left without exchanging any information.

Aug. 11

9:08 a.m.: Officers responded to the 700 block of East Ninth Street in reference to a theft. The complaint stated one of the license plates was stolen from her vehicle. A suspect has been named and the plate was entered as stolen.

1:55 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of East 13th Street to investigate a reported disturbance. The victim said someone known to her had shown up at the residence and began pounding on the door, damaging it. The suspect left prior to officers' arrival, but charges of municipal destruction of non-city property have been requested.

Aug. 12

1:55 p.m.: Officers completed a report of a stolen phone in the 2200 block of South Ohio Avenue.

2:32 p.m.: Officers responded to the 800 block of East 13th Street for a report of a stolen Xbox. The reporting party stated she when she woke up, her Xbox had been taken by an acquaintance that frequents the home. The reporting party and another witness gave statements identifying the suspect and a report was submitted.

Aug. 13

6:38 a.m. Officers responded to the 300 block of Colonial Court in reference to a theft. The victim stated some items were taken from his vehicle. Officers investigated the incident and found other victims of attempted theft. At this time, the suspect has not been identified.

7:33 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of East 11th Street in reference to property damage and harassment. The caller said the suspect had harassed her and damaged her car. No arrest has been made at this time.

Aug. 14

6:59 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Warren Avenue a report of a disturbance. A male subject reported that a female suspect had assaulted him. The suspect had fled from the scene before officers arrived and was not located. The victim had some minor injuries but refused to go to the hospital. Requested charges will be submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor.

8:38 p.m.: An officer responded to the 900 block of West 32nd Street for the report of a civil issue. The caller believed that her car window was broken by flying debris from her neighbor’s lawn mower. The owner of the vehicle requested a report for documentation.

Arrests

Aug. 12

2:06 a.m.: Dylan Hayworth, 22, of Sweet Springs, was arrested after deputies were dispatched to Highway T and Highway B in Houstonia in reference to an unconscious man in a vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle parked between both lanes with the subject asleep and placed stop sticks in front of the vehicle to prevent the driver from fleeing. They were able to rouse Hayworth, who then began to drive off and deflated the front tires. He was removed from the vehicle, arrested, and provided a breath sample showing a higher-than-normal blood alcohol level. Hayworth was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released to a sober person for driving while intoxicated.

Aug. 14

2:10 p.m.: Cameron Keene, 23, of Green Ridge, was arrested after deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers responded to the 19000 block of Highway B in Green Ridge for a report of a physical domestic disturbance in progress with a weapon. Dispatch advised a male subject had broken a beer bottle and was actively trying to stab people. Upon arrival, deputies took Keene into custody without incident and transported him to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of second-degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. Minor injuries to the hand were reported by one victim.

6:30 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to West Front Street in La Monte for a domestic assault report. An incident had taken place between two juveniles at a residence and a male subject suspect was released to parents on scene. A juvenile referral was completed and forwarded to the Pettis County Juvenile Office.
