This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 15

4:27 a.m.: Billy B. Brown, 36, of the 1000 block of East 10th Street, was arrested after officers responded to a hit-and-run crash in the 600 block of East 14th Street. It was determined an intoxicated driver was involved in a stabbing, crashed into a parked car, and drove to a family member’s house nearby, where the intoxicated family member with a revoked driver’s license drove him to the hospital. Brown was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated - persistent offender and driving with revoked driver's license. He was booked and released at the Pettis County Jail.

5:08 a.m.: Jerry Cook Jr., 39, of the 500 block of West Seventh Street, was arrested after officers responded to the 600 block of East 11th Street for a disturbance in progress. They were told en route of a subject at the hospital with a stab wound. On scene, they spoke to witnesses of the disturbance, but the victim and suspect had already left. Evidence of an assault was present and collected by officers. Cook was placed under arrest after receiving treatment at Bothwell Regional Health Center for his injuries and transported to the Pettis County Jail for first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Incidents

Aug. 14

Noon: A female subject came to the police department to report money was stolen from her in the 1800 block of South Beacon Avenue. She reported the money was stolen Aug. 9.

Aug. 15

10:39 a.m.: Sedalia police took a report in the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue for a theft involving a Craftsman riding lawn mower.

9:53 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of theft. The complainant reported that an unidentified female stole several items from the business valued at $38.50.
