This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 17

5:05 p.m.: Steven N. Hensley, 39, of the 800 block of McVey Drive, was arrested after being stopped near 17th Street and Washington Avenue for a tinted license plate cover. Hensley had a revoked operator’s status and was issued a city summons.

Aug. 18 

12:05 a.m.: Jay Hahn, 37, of Jefferson City, was arrested after a traffic stop for failure to maintain a lane near Thompson Boulevard and West 10th Street. Hahn was intoxicated and refused to provide a breath sample. A blood draw was conducted, and he was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released with a charge of driving while intoxicated. 

9:28 p.m.: Richard B. Waters, 61, of the 1700 block of East Fourth Street, was issued a summons after officers conducted a vehicle stop at South Emmett Avenue and East Seventh Street. The driver had a suspended driving status and was transported to the police department and given a municipal citation.

Incidents

Aug. 13

6:06 p.m.: Officers responded to the lobby of the police department for a report of the violation of a court order in the 1300 block of South Grand Avenue. Officers spoke with the victim and a report was completed. 

Aug. 14

8:30 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a reported property damage incident. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

Aug. 17

9:44 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a Tractor Supply Company, 3901 W. Broadway Blvd, for a report of theft. The caller stated sometime overnight someone stole two trailers and a grill. The total amount of the items that were taken was around $7,600. 

10:18 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of East 11th Street in reference to a disturbance. The victim said she had been assaulted by her boyfriend and stated he broke multiple items valued at over $1,000. In addition the suspect damaged the residence. He was not located and a request for charges of second-degree domestic assault and first-degree property damage have been submitted to the prosecutor.

Aug. 18

2:55 p.m.: An officer responded to the 800 block of South Thompson Boulevard in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated her Chevrolet was struck while parked on the private lot. The striking vehicle left without providing information. At the time of the report a suspect has not been identified. 

3:09 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Menards, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue, for a report of failure to return rental property. The caller said a subject was to return a rented sander, but had yet to return it. The sander is valued at $2,799. 

6:31 p.m.: Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at JCPenney, 3159 W. Broadway Blvd. An adult male stated his juvenile son had assaulted him in the parking lot and damaged some of his property. The juvenile left the scene on foot before officers arrived and was entered as a runaway and a juvenile referral was completed. At approximately 9:40 p.m. the juvenile returned home and was taken off the list as a missing person. 

Aug. 19

12:58 p.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East Sixth Street and South Massachusetts Avenue. Contraband was located in the vehicle and seized for destruction. The driver was released with a warning.

Aug. 17

10:02 a.m.: Deputies to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office responded to the Pettis County Living Center, 3017 Brooking Park Drive, for a lost cell phone.

Arrests

Aug. 19

12:38 a.m.: Anthony R. Brookshier, 32, of Cameron, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.
