This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 11

8:33 a.m.: Kimberly Ballenger, 43, of the 300 block of McAnally Court, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of theft from the store. Asset protection associates gave officers information for several incidents of theft by the same individual who had skipped scanning several items on four separate occasions. Video led to the officers being able to identify Ballenger and the vehicle being driven from the parking lot. Ballenger was located, arrested and charges were submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor for four counts of stealing.

11:11 p.m.: Tony L. Gladden, 45, of Iberia, was arrested after a vehicle stop near East Broadway Boulevard and Highway M for moving violations and driving without headlights. Gladden was intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Aug. 15

10:30 a.m.: Dawna Renee Admire, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested after an officer responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. The complainant reported an unidentified female stole several items from the business valued at $38.50. She was identified, arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour hold for second-degree burglary and stealing.

Aug. 19

1:52 a.m.: Mariana Escobar Chavarria, 32, of the 400 block of South Wagner Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop near East Broadway Boulevard and South Ingram Avenue for no lights. Chavarria did not have a license and had two previous convictions for driving without a license. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released.

2:45 a.m.: Benjamin Pasquale, 24, of the 700 block of East 14th Street, was arrested after an intoxicated driver was reported in the area of East 17th Street and South Ohio Avenue. Officers observed the vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road, turning its lights off, and disobeying a stop sign. Pasquale was intoxicated, had no driver's license, and was taken to the Pettis County Jail for driving while intoxicated and driving without a valid license.

7:34 p.m.: Lindsey Renea Kresi, of Jefferson City, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 3800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for moving violations. Kresi was arrested for driving while intoxicated, issued a municipal citation and released to a sober person.

9:07 p.m.: Karla Esmeralda Aldava Arevalo, 39, of Kansas City, was arrested after a car was stopped for failing to signal several times and improper lane usage near West Broadway Boulevard and South Missouri Avenue. The owner was in possession of two temporary registration tags and was placed under arrest for two counts of state felony forgery. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked for forgery and released.

9:44 p.m.: Charles Verdell Wheeler, 51, of Paris, Missouri, was arrested after a vehicle stop near West 16th Street and South State Fair Boulevard for a moving traffic violation. Wheeler was impaired by an intoxicating beverage and was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.

9:57 p.m.: Officers responded to the 200 block of South Engineer Avenue for a physical domestic disturbance. The suspect had already left the scene but a report was collected and a fourth-degree assault charge is being pursued.

10:01 p.m.: Jordan G. Walker, 22, of the 800 block of Sunflower Street, was arrested after being observed speeding near West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue. Walker was intoxicated and was transported to the police department and issued a uniform traffic ticket.

Aug. 20

12:52 a.m.: Lomond Keith Johnson, 55, of the 3700 block of South New York Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop near East 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue for an improper turn and failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. Johnson was intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked for aggravated driving while intoxicated.

3:20 a.m.: Luis Lamberto Leon Lopez, 21, of the 1300 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle was stopped near West 14th Street and South Ohio Avenue for no plate lights. Lopez was intoxicated by drugs and was placed under arrest, transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released for driving while intoxicated - drugs.

Incidents

Aug. 15

8:54 a.m.: An officer responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a fraud report. An employee stated she had been a victim of fraud through Facebook Marketplace. The victim put down $700 on a golf cart but later learned it did not exist. At the time of the report, the suspect has not been located.

1:37 p.m.: Officers responded to the 300 block of East Second Street for a possible breaking and entering and property damage that occurred early in the morning. Officers found an upstairs residence that appeared to have been broken into and damaged.

Aug. 16

2:18 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Sixth Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident. They made contact with the reporting party, who stated he was on his bike in the area of East Seventh Street and South Porter Avenue when a black four-door sedan hit him. He said the driver then offered him money and left the scene. The suspect has not been identified.

Aug. 18

12:51 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 100 block of West Main Street in reference to a disturbance and gunshots. During a physical disturbance outside the business, a firearm was discharged. No arrests were made.

9:59 a.m.: Officers responded to the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard for the report of a stolen moped. They spoke with the reporting party, who said he was eating at a business when he noticed that a moped that was stolen from a friend a couple of days ago in the area of East Sixth Street was parked in the parking lot. The owner was contacted and confirmed ownership and the vehicle was recovered and returned. Video footage from the business was collected and two potential suspects were observed.

3:25 p.m.: Officers responded to the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of theft. The reporting party stated that over the course of several months, a previous employee of the business had been stealing items. Officers received video footage and a comprehensive list of stolen items. The suspect was identified and charges were submitted.

Aug. 18

7:56 a.m.: Deputies responded to Fristoe Road and Dexter Road to take a report of a non-injury accident. An accident occurred when one of the vehicles was driving on the wrong side of the road.

Arrests

Aug. 18

9:39 p.m.: Trent A. Baldwin, 35, of Pilot Grove, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while intoxicated - alcohol, and operating a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold.

Aug. 19

7:10 a.m.: Bradrick A. Goodwin, 42, of Kansas City, was arrested in Johnson County for felony driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg and released.

12:36 a.m.: Raul A. Garcia Sandoval, 30, of Marshall, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated, speeding, and no insurance. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.

Aug. 20

2:13 p.m.: Ryan S. Carter, 33, of Belton, was arrested in Johnson County for felony endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated, failure to register a motor vehicle, and a lane violation. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released.
