This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 24

7:48 p.m.: Anita Marie Burke, 48, of the 600 block of South Moniteau Avenue, was arrested after a domestic disturbance. Burke was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of third-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest.

Aug. 25 

11:59 p.m.: Eric Joseph Thomas, 20, of the 1300 block of South Kentucky Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of West 20th Street and South Missouri Avenue for a registration violation. The driver was found to have a revoked license and was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released pending state charges of driving with a revoked license. 

Incidents

Aug. 23

4:17 p.m.: An officer assisted the Pettis County Children's Division in an investigation in the 400 block of South Grand Avenue. The incident was documented and no actions were taken.

4:47 p.m.: An officer responded to the 300 block of North Harding Avenue for a report of a stolen vehicle trailer. The victim reported the value of the trailer at $4,325.

11:51 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of East Sixth Street in reference to a theft. The caller said the titles of his cars had been stolen. No arrests have been made at this time. 

Aug. 24

12:12 a.m.: An officer responded to the area of South Harrison Avenue and Magnolia Avenue in reference to a found bullet casing. The resident had recovered the casing from the intersection and the officer located four additional bullet casings. The casings were collected as evidence and may be related to earlier calls in which several people in the area reported hearing gunshots. The investigation is ongoing. 

9:08 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1700 block of East Seventh Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The caller said his vehicle was struck overnight while parked in front of the residence. The striking vehicle left without providing information. Parts of the suspect vehicle were recovered.

2:03 p.m.: An officer initiated a traffic stop near East Main Street and South Missouri Avenue for improper registration. It was determined that the plates belong to the previous owner of the vehicle and were not taken off at the time of sale. The plates were seized. 

3:02 p.m.: An officer took a report in the SPD lobby regarding forgery and fraud. The suspect attempted to take $500 from the victim.

4:52 p.m.: An officer responded to the area of Broadway Boulevard and Lamine Avenue in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim said she was rear-ended near the intersection and the striking vehicle fled the scene south on Lamine Avenue. A description of the vehicle and driver were obtained. 

6:56 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of South Babcock Avenue in reference to an assault. The caller said their 14-year-old had struck their 10-year-old in the head with a bowl and the 10-year-old had to go to the hospital for treatment. A juvenile referral was made.

Aug. 25

1:53 a.m.: An officer on patrol on West Fifth Street and South Vermont Avenue observed a bicyclist operating on city streets without lights. The cyclist was found to be in possession of an apparent controlled substance and was released from the scene pending lab results.

Arrests

Aug. 25

12:05 a.m.: Eric A. Pohl and April D. Gieler were arrested after the Pettis County K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of Highway V and U.S. 65 in Pettis County. Both were found to have warrants for their arrests. Pohl was in possession of a crystal substance and was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of possession of a controlled substance.

2:02 p.m.: Deputies took a report for fraudulent transactions to a debit card in the 1600 block of McVey Road.
