This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Aug. 1

2:20 p.m.: Lindsay Deanne Brown, 26, of Smithton, was arrested after officers responded to the 2200 block of West Main Street for a suspicious person. Brown was found asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle and was confirmed to have two active Pettis County warrants. A search revealed drug paraphernalia and a white substance discovered in her purse tested positive for fentanyl. Brown was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of first-degree drug trafficking, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the failure to appear warrant.

Incidents

July 31

3:33 p.m.: An officer took a theft report for a gun stolen from the 1000 block of West 16th Street. The victim said he believed the firearm was stolen from his house and a report was completed.

4:43 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run crash at West 17th Street and South Missouri Avenue. A red 1998 Dodge Durango was southbound on South Missouri Avenue when a 2011 Buick Enclave ran the stop sign at the intersection of West 17th and South Missouri Avenue. The Dodge truck hit the Buick, which was found abandoned in an alley west of the 1300 block of South Grand Avenue. Officers were working the crash when they were informed the Buick was being reported as stolen from the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue. No serious injuries were reported.

7:55 p.m.: Officers took a report of theft from a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. A female subject was identified and charges were submitted.

8:37 p.m.:Officers responded to the 700 block of West Fourth Street in reference to a stolen bicycle. The caller said her bicycle was described as a Specialized purple with bright orange writing. There are no suspects.

Aug. 1

1:33 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1400 block of East 16th Street in reference to an abandoned vehicle that had been reported stolen out of St Clair County. It was recovered and a report was completed.

Aug. 2

1:42 a.m.: An officer responded to the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of vehicle theft. The caller reported her 2007 Chevrolet Impala was stolen from the parking lot of a business. Some suspect information was obtained.
