This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 25

2 a.m.: Jason Ryan Shields, 27, of Tipton, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer performed an investigative traffic stop on a vehicle because the person related to the car was recorded as having a suspended license. The stop took place in the area of South Ohio Avenue and East Second Street. A computer check confirmed the driver, Shields, had a suspended license.

Dec. 26

2:10 a.m.: Brayan Josue Castro Izaguirre, 17, of the 1200 block of South Missouri Avenue, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, misdemeanor resisting arrest, minor in possession of alcohol and driving without a valid license. Police pursued a vehicle that failed to yield for a traffic stop for speeding. The pursuit began on West 20th Street near South Limit Avenue. The pursuit ended in the 1100 block of South Missouri Avenue, and the driver was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

3:05 p.m.: Amy Ann Rios, 29, of the 100 block of East Walnut Street, was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. An officer saw a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign at West Saline Street at North Engineer Avenue. He stopped the vehicle and could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside. A search of the car reportedly revealed a prescription pill that he identified as a controlled substance. The officer reportedly found the pill in the passenger’s possession and placed her under arrest.

Incidents

Dec. 25

6:40 p.m.: An officer responded to the emergency room at Bothwell Regional Health Center for a report of an assault that occurred in the 500 block of North Stewart Avenue. The victim reported multiple members of her family had been involved in a disturbance about 3:30 p.m. She said a male subject she knew hit her, causing a minor injury. The officer has referred the case to the court prosecutor.

Dec. 27

3:30 a.m.: Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fifth Street in reference to a stolen vehicle. The caller said someone stole the vehicle sometime between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3 a.m. Thursday. Officers hadn’t located the vehicle and had no suspects at the time of the report.

2:10 a.m.: Quintin K. Hansel, 23, of Green Ridge, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain a single lane.
