This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 29

8:47 p.m.: Bennett Tyler Neely, 25, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a fraud report from the 1600 block of 16th Street. They contacted the victim by cell phone and gathered information for a report. They were able to identify Neely and made contact with him in a business parking lot in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. They discovered the fraudulently purchased items in his vehicle and he was transported to the Pettis County Jail. Officers identified a second suspect, an individual known to law enforcement.

Jan. 30

11:24 p.m.: Oscar Gonzalez, 43, of the 3200 block of South New York Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop near East Broadway Boulevard and South Marvin Avenue for improper registration and disobeying a stop sign. The plate was altered to appear as genuine and Gonzalez was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked on a state charge of forgery.

Incidents

Jan. 29

6:19 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a report of fraud in the 1600 block of East Broadway Boulevard. They contacted the victim via cell phone and gathered information for a report. A suspect is known but has not been taken into custody.

8:11 p.m.: A victim in the 1500 block of Harrison Avenue reported rape to dispatch. Officers gathered information and there is an ongoing investigation.

Jan. 30

3 p.m.: Officers responded to the police department lobby for a report from the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue of subjects fraudulently filing taxes. They gathered information from the parties involved and a report was completed.
