This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 28

1:04 a.m.: Devin D. Dotson, 22, of the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive, was arrested after being observed in a car sitting at the northbound red light on South State Fair Boulevard at West Broadway Boulevard. Dotson disobeyed the signal light and went through the red light. After a traffic stop, it was determined he was impaired by drugs and he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A charge of disobeying a signal light and no child restraint is also being requested.

May 2

12:26 a.m.: Jammie Morgan Newland, 23, of the 1000 block of East 17th Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West Seventh Street regarding a previous physical domestic assault. Officers spoke with both parties and a primary aggressor was determined. Newland was transported to the Pettis County Jail for second-degree domestic assault and second-degree property damage.

Incidents

April 28

8:49 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1300 block of East 11th Street regarding a hit-and-run accident. They located a vehicle that had been struck in the overnight hours. The striking vehicle had not been located at the time of the report.

May 1

6:18 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard regarding an attempted burglary that occurred earlier in the evening. They spoke with the reporting party and gathered information to create a report.

8 p.m.: Officers conducted a stolen bicycle report. The victim reported a family member’s bike was stolen from his house in the 200 block of East Boonville Street. Information for the report was collected.

8:44 p.m.: Officers took a stolen bicycle report. The victim reported a family member's bicycle had been taken at some point that day from the 1800 block of East Sixth Street. The victim located a Facebook post of the bike and was able to recover it. There are no known suspects.
