This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Feb. 18

10:22 p.m.: James M Steilling, 39, of Windsor, was arrested near West Saline Street and Scott Joplin Court after a traffic stop for failure to maintain his lane. Upon investigation, it was discovered the license plate had been reported stolen out of Gladstone. Steilling was discovered to have an active failure to appear warrant out of Johnson County, Kansas. A search revealed the driver was also in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Charges of drug violation, fugitive from justice, and warrant arrests were filed and Steilling was placed on a 24-hour hold and posted a $7,500 bond.

Incidents

Feb. 17

2:34 p.m.: An officer took a report in the lobby of the Police Department regarding harassment in the 1000 block of Leone Avenue. Charges have been submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor for review.

Feb. 18

1:35 p.m.: Officers responded to the Bothwell Regional Health Center emergency room to assist the Pettis County Sheriff's Office with a WRAP device for an inmate spitting on deputies and hospital staff. The WRAP was applied, and the subject was transported to the Pettis County Jail.

4:02 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of South Warren Avenue in reference to a theft report. The victim said he believes his Apple Watch series 6 fell out of his pocket and was now pinging in a different location. The watch was entered as a stolen item.

5:24 p.m.: An officer took a report at the police department regarding a theft in the 1900 block of South Sneed Avenue. The victim stated that while she was gone from the house on Feb. 9  someone entered the home and took items that included $800 to $900 worth of currency. There is a suspect the victim listed.

Feb. 18

12:06 p.m.: Deputies took a report for property damage in the 37000 block of Maple Grove Road in Windsor. There were no leads or suspects at the time of the report.
