Arrests

Oct. 20

7:53 p.m.: Valerie Marie Henderson, 38, of Smithton, was arrested after a traffic stop for an equipment violation near South Kentucky Avenue and West Sixth street. Henderson had a revoked driving status and was transported to the police department, issued a uniform traffic ticket and released.

8:18 p.m.: Timoteo Lux-Lopez, 31, or the 700 block of Wilkerson Street, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop near South Quincy Avenue and West.Main Street. Lux-Lopez was found to have no operator’s driving status and was transported to the police department and issued a Municipal citation.

9:31 p.m.: Leonel Contreras-Antonio, of the 400 block of East Saline Street, was arrested after a traffic stop near West Broadway Boulevard and Industrial Road. The driver was found to have no driver's license and was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending a charge of driving without a driver's license.

Oct. 21

6:53 p.m.: Olena Nikitenko, 27, of the 100 block of East Second Street, was arrested after officers responded in reference to a domestic disturbance. Nikitenko was the primary aggressor and was transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was placed on a 24-hour hold pending State charges of fourth-degree domestic assault.

11:34 p.m.: Mindy Gorham, 55, of Blue Springs, was arrested after a vehicle was observed traveling east on Broadway Boulevard drifting back and forth. A traffic stop found the driver in possession of methamphetamine and a search revealed a handgun and drug paraphernalia. Gorham was transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of a weapon.

Oct. 22

1:35 p.m.: Shane P. Meyer, 27, of Saint James, was arrested after being observed with four motorcycles traveling eastbound on East Broadway Boulevard in South Ingram Avenue and speeds excess of 85 mph in a 35. The officer attempted to stop the motorcycles and two pulled over while two continued. The officer chased the remaining two motorcycles with lights on as they continued to speed for approximately 13 blocks. When they finally came to stop it was discovered one of the riders did not have a motorcycle endorsement. Meyer was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a request for charges of speeding, resisting arrest, and no operator's license.

David Cottengen, 38, of West Plains, was arrested for resisting arrest and speeding.

Incidents

Oct. 18

1:03 a.m.: An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop near West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue for an observed traffic violation. The driver failed to yield to the police vehicle and continued south until it left the City limits of Sedalia. For safety the patrol vehicle did not continue the pursuit. A suspect was obtained and the investigation continues.

Oct. 20

8:04 a.m.: An officer responded to Discount Smokes, 2610 block of West Broadway, in reference to a hit and run accident. The building had been struck during the overnight hours and the east side had damage. At the time of the report the suspect has not been identified.

Oct. 21

2:27 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1000 block of South New York Avenue in reference to a suspicious situation. It was discovered a possible sexual assault had occurred and a report was generated. An investigation is ongoing.

2:35 a.m.: Officers responded to the Bothwell Emergency Room to speak with a subject who had been in a domestic disturbance. The subject was not cooperative and did not want an investigation completed. A report was generated to document the incident.

Arrests

Oct. 22

4:18 a.m.: Antonio J. Wells was arrested after Pettis County deputies observed a blue Chevy Malibu fail to stop at a red light at U.S. Highway 50 and Thompson Boulevard. They initiated a vehicle stop and identified the driver, who did not have a valid driver's license or insurance. They observed a pair of brass knuckles on the driver's seat and a search of Wells located a clear pipe containing a white powdery substance that field tested for methamphetamine. A search of the vehicle found a digital scale with white powdery residue and a ripped clear plastic bag that was dropped into a cup of liquid prior to Deputy contact. Wells was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, possession of an illegal weapon and forgery.

11:42 p.m.: Elaine Luera, 18, of Sedalia, was arrested after deputies conducted a traffic stop near Ninth Street and South Engineer Avenue on a vehicle with an expired registration. K9 Lord with the Sheriff's Office was run around the vehicle for an open-air sniff and alerted to the order of narcotics. Luera admitted to having narcotics inside her person and removed the narcotics and paraphernalia which were seized as evidence. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and put on a 24-hour hold pending charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oct. 21

12:54 p.m.: Kayla B. Williams, 31, of Lee's Summit, was arrested in Morgan County for DWI-alcohol. She was transported to the Morgan County Jail and released.
