This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 11

 2:05 p.m.: Shyanne Nicole Meyer, 25, of the 19000 block of Maltsberger Road, was arrested after a vehicle stop near East Fourth Street and South Massachusetts Avenue for improper registration. A check revealed the driver did not have a driver's license and drug paraphernalia was found. Meyer was arrested but ultimately released so she could make a court appearance.

Jan. 14

8:53 p.m.: Cecil Glenn Keller, 29, of the 1500 block of South Barrett Avenue, was arrested after officers responded for a physical domestic. Officers contacted two male subjects that resided together and determined Keller was the primary aggressor. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of fourth-degree domestic assault. 

Jan. 15

12:16 a.m.:  Tonya D. Scutnick, 32, of Versailles, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of East Seventh Street for a reportedly intoxicated subject trying to leave in a vehicle. Due to other priority calls a request for assistance from the Pettis County Sheriff's Office was made. While deputies were en route to the call, dispatch updated them that the suspect was now hitting two females known to her. Scutnick was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of fourth-degree domestic assault charges. 

3:14 p.m.: Jeremy A. McDaniel, 30, of Cedar Springs, was arrested after a vehicle stop near West Ninth Street and South Grand Avenue for expired registration. McDaniel was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was charged with driving with a suspended license, booked, and released.

7:35 p.m.: Michele Ann Davenport, 54, of the 100 block of West Cooper Street, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to a disturbance. Davenport was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour hold. A request for a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault has been submitted to the prosecutor.

10:47 p.m.: Lacey Renee Battles, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center in reference to a combative patient assaulting hospital staff. Officers made contact with Battles and she was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Battles was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of fourth-degree assault. 

Jan. 16

3:13 a.m.: Pedro Marcos, 22, of the 400 block of South Quincy Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop at East Broadway Boulevard and South New York Avenue for swerving. It was determined Marcos was intoxicated so he was arrested, transported to the Police Department, transported to Bothwell for a blood draw, then transported to the Pettis County Jail. He was placed on a 12-hour protective custody hold. A request for a charge of driving while intoxicated has been submitted. 

1:30 p.m.: Michael T. Riedl Jr., 55, of Houstonia, was arrested after a vehicle stop for failing to signal. It was determined the driver was intoxicated and he was arrested, transported to the Sedalia Police Department, processed and issued a summons for driving while intoxicated.

Incidents

Jan. 11

3:31 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a trespassing call. A suspect came into the store looking for a specific employee and went to a marked employee-only area of the store. State charges of trespassing were submitted to the prosecutor. 

Jan. 12

6:47 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1400 block of South Carr Avenue for a porta-potty that was on fire. Contact was made with the property owner and Hank's Portable Toilets. At the time of the report, no formal charges are being sought. 

Jan. 13

4:59 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Summer Avenue in reference to an assault. A juvenile male had assaulted a pregnant woman known to him by hitting and kicking her in the stomach. A subject refused treatment at the scene. A report was completed for documentation. 

Jan. 14

9:43 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a Liberty Life Center in the 1500 block of Driftwood Drive. A suspect broke into the building and stole approximately $150 in cash. There is video footage. 

Jan. 15

2:43 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to Katy Park Baptist Church, 901 W. 24th St., in reference to a burglary. The building was cleared and it was discovered a safe valued at $750 was missing. No arrests have been made at this time. 

9:35 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 3100 block of Katy Trail Avenue for a theft report. An unknown suspect stole items from the victim's vehicle overnight. 

1:35 p.m.: An officer met an employee from a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in the SPD lobby in reference to a theft. They advised someone known to them came into the store and stole items of clothing worth $32.91. The suspect was identified and charges are being sought. 

Jan. 16

4:49 p.m.: An officer responded to a residence in the 1700 block of South Harrison Avenue for a burglary report. Suspects cut the lock from an outbuilding on the property and took antiques.

1:09 p.m.: An officer responded to the 3200 block of Buckingham Drive in reference to property damage. Two residents said sometime overnight someone drove a vehicle into the vacant lot and performed a donut, causing debris to strike the privacy fence and the victim's residences. The vehicle then left the area. A suspect has not been identified. 

1:12 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of South Lamine Avenue for a report of an assault. The victim stated he was assaulted by a man known to him. Charges against the suspect are being submitted. 

1:49 p.m.: Officers responded to the 100 block of West Pacific Street for a report of a burglary. Contact was made with a male subject who reported that a lock to his storage unit was cut off and some items were stolen from inside. 

6:04 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. Reportedly a female had walked around the store placing several items in a cart and attempted to leave without paying. The individual stopped at the door and ran, leaving the item. The total value of the items stolen is $970.15. No arrests have been made at this time. 

Jan. 17

7:49 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of West Third Street in reference to property damage. Overnight, the north glass door of the business was damaged. 

8:20 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 400 block of West Main Street for a report of vehicle theft. The caller stated a 2021 cargo van valued at $38,000 was rented and not returned. At the time of the report, the suspect and vehicle have not been located. 

9:37 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of McAnally Court for a report of tires being punctured. The estimated damage was $200. There are no suspects at this time. 

10:45 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of South Marshall Avenue for a report of a stolen car part. The victim stated someone stole the center cap to the front passenger side wheel on her vehicle estimated at $62. There are no suspects at this time.

Jan. 18

12:39 a.m.: Officers observed a vehicle known to them traveling at 81 mph in a 25 mph zone. After attempting to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, it fled and continued at a rate of 102 miles per hour out of the city limits. Charges are being sought.

Arrests

Jan. 17

4:38 a.m.: Colleen Nichols, 34, and Thomas Capleton, 55, both of Sedalia, were arrested after deputies responded to the 100 block of Villa Drive in Pettis County in reference to a physical assault. They were transported separately to the Pettis County Jail and placed on 24-hour holds awaiting formal charges.

Jan. 10

10:30 a.m.: Deputies took a report of theft on Pleasant Green in La Monte.

Jan. 15

8:25 a.m.: Deputies responded to the area of U.S. Highway 65 and Bothwell Park Road in reference to a vehicle that slid off the roadway and down an embankment due to inclement weather. The driver, Jose Rodriguez Talabera, of Sedalia, and two other occupants were transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center with minor injuries.

Arrests

Jan. 17

1:15 p.m.: Danny R. Mullins, 68, of Lone Jack, was arrested in Benton County for felony driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Benton County Jail and released.
