This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 13

1:03 p.m.: James D. Baker, 47, of the 500 block of West Seventh Street, was arrested after officers responded to a business in the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in response to a theft. A white male entered the store and exited with a coat valued at $49. The suspect in the case was identified and later arrested. Baker was issued a municipal summons for stealing and trespassing.

Jan. 20

7:13 a.m.: Alexander Francis Knipp, 33, of the 1500 block of Main Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched in reference to a stolen vehicle. The caller reported a man known to her had stolen her car keys and stole her car. The vehicle was located in the 100 block of West 14th Street and the subject in possession of the vehicle was transported to the Pettis County Jail. He was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. 

Jan. 21

7:05 p.m.: Alexandria M. Guerra, 23, of Lincoln, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to the area of Fourth Street and Center Avenue in reference to an intoxicated driver. The subject was located, arrested for driving while intoxicated, taken to the police department, processed and released with a municipal charge of driving while intoxicated.

11:46 p.m.: Ricky B. Longie, 46, of the 400 block of North Grand Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of East Fifth Street and South Washington Avenue. Longie was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released with a charge of driving with a revoked driver's license.

Jan. 22

1:38 a.m.: Taylor Anthony Wiseman, 33, the 3300 block of Southwest Boulevard, was arrested after a vehicle stop in the area of Emmet Avenue and Broadway Boulevard for failure to maintain a lane, attempting to evade law enforcement and crashing into a parked vehicle. Weisman exited his vehicle and ignored police commands. He was taken into custody, transported to the police department, the hospital, and the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest. 

Jan. 23

12:23 a.m.: Bryce Joseph Rowles, 21, of the 300 block of East Second Street, was arrested after a truck was stopped in the area of East Third Street and South Washington Avenue for speeding and failure to maintain the right half of the roadway. The driver was arrested, processed, and released with a municipal charge of driving while intoxicated. 

1:30 a.m.: Domingo Sis Castro, 26, of the 900 block of East Fifth Street, was arrested after a traffic stop for moving violations. Traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and South Missouri Avenue. The driver had a suspended driver's license and was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released with a charge of driving with a suspended driver's license. 

2:14 a.m.: Mary C. Eldson, 49, of Independence, was arrested after a traffic stop at West 16th Street and Thompson Boulevard for failure to maintain a lane and indicators the driver was impaired. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated, transported to the police department, processed, and released to a sober person.

2:53 p.m.: James D. Baker, 47, of the 500 block of West Seventh Street, was arrested after an officer responded to Walmart, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a trespassing report. Contact was made with the subject who had previously been issued a trespass warning. He was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released with a summons for trespassing.

6:19 p.m.: Randall Lee Garkie, 56, of the 500 block of East Fifth Street, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to an intoxicated subject who got into a vehicle and was driving. A stop was made in the area of Fifth Street and Lafayette Avenue. The driver was intoxicated and was arrested. He was taken to the police department and then the Pettis County Jail where he was booked on a 12-hour protective custody hold, or release to a sober person, with state charges of driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended driver's license. 

Jan. 24

1:10 a.m.: Justin Travis Perry, 31, of the 200 block of East Saline Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop in the area of Cooper Street and Ohio Avenue after failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign and no plate lights. It was determined Perry was intoxicated, and he was arrested, taken to the police department, and then the jail, and released to a sober person with a state charge of driving while intoxicated. A charge of failure to maintain financial responsibility is also being requested.

Incidents

Jan. 18

5:36 p.m.: An officer responded to the 2400 block of North Woodlawn Avenue in reference to a burglary no longer in progress. The caller stated while she was checking on her daughter's house, she saw a female loading items into a truck. The caller recognized the female, but no contact has been made at this time. 

Jan. 22

10:47 a.m.: Officers took a report in the SPD lobby in reference to possible fraud. An unauthorized order was placed over the internet using the victim's account for approximately $110. The order was flagged and canceled prior to any funds being taken from the victim. The suspect was located, interviewed, and provided a written statement. No charges have been filed at this time. 

1 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of East Sixth Street for a report of a burglary. The victim stated that sometime Thursday someone stole $2,600 worth of property from the victim's room. Suspects were named, but at the time of the report, they have not been located for questioning. Photos were taken of the scene and attached to the case.

5:57 p.m.: Officers took a report of identity theft in the 600 block of East 11th Street. The reporting party stated that someone had been using her information to open multiple bank accounts. After meeting with the reporting party information was collected and a report was completed. 

8:20 p.m.: An officer responded to the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a harassment call no longer in progress. The juvenile victim stated that while she was eating dinner, a woman unknown to her purposely bumped her shoulder in the food line and later yelled at and threatened her. A suspect has been identified and charges for harassment will be sent to the prosecutor.

9:52 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. The store clerk stated an unknown male entered the store and began pocketing items. The suspect is unknown. 

11:29 p.m.: Officers responded to the Pettis County Jail in reference to a vehicle theft that occurred Dec. 20. An officer spoke with the victim at the jail and collected a statement. The suspect is known and charges are being sought. 

Jan. 23

1:56 p.m.: Officers took a theft report in the SPD lobby. The victim misplaced her wallet at Walmart on Jan. 22. The wallet was located the next day in the men's bathroom but approximately $100 in cash and a $15 gift card were taken. There are no suspects at this time. 

3:10 p.m.: Officers responded to the 600 block of West Third Street for property damage that resulted from an accident while tree trimmers were cutting down a tree. The tree landed on the porch of the neighboring house, causing damage to the porch and knocking down an Evergy line along with a cable or internet line. Officers exchanged information with the tree service and the owner of the damaged porch.

7:56 p.m.: Officers responded to the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of a drug offense. The cashier completed a statement and the drug offense is under investigation.

Arrests

Jan. 21

1:55 p.m.: Austin M. Neher, 22, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated - drugs and speeding. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

8:34 p.m.: Darrell D. Grimmett, 18, of Kansas City, was arrested in Saline County for felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of a stolen firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released.

Jan. 23

7:59 p.m.: Morgan R. Hawkins, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated and a lane violation. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.
