This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 8

6 p.m.: Brandon L. Paxton, 29, of Smithton, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft report. When Paxton returned to the store, the access protection employees called after he had stolen a crossbow the previous day. Paxton was issued a court summons and released from the police department. 

Incidents

July 11

9:13 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 800 block of Winchester Drive for a report of a burglary. The caller stated they had security camera footage of two subjects breaking into the building and taking several items. 

12:42 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 500 block of North Missouri Avenue in reference to an assist agency call with the Pettis County Children's Division. The call was documented with a report.

3:04 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the Pettis County Jail for a report of a theft that occurred in the 300 block of North Summit Avenue. The victim said they left a paycheck with someone when they were arrested. The victim said that person forged their signature and cashed it. 

July 12

8:17 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of Winchester Drive for the report of a burglary. The caller stated that sometime overnight, someone broke into the business, stole cash and damaged several machines. 

9:06 a.m.: Officers responded to the 3900 block of Artisan Drive for a report of a burglary. A subject reported copper wires were stolen from their construction site over the weekend. 

3:39 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft report. The reporting party said a store employee did not make a store deposit as they said. The deposit was valued at $1,667.

9:47 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 500 block of South Ohio Avenue in reference to found property. The caller said he had found three fake $100 bills on the floor of the business. The items were placed in evidence for safekeeping. 

11:47 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1500 block of South Kentucky Avenue for reports of shots fired. Officers saturated the area but were unable to locate the source of the gunfire. A report was taken for documentation.

Arrests

July 12

11:59 a.m.: Matthew L. Hymiller, 25, of Lee’s Summit, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the road resulting in an accident. He was processed and released.
