This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 14

1:06 p.m.: Wesley T. Kern, 31, of the 900 block of Villa Drive, was arrested after an officer responded to the 1700 block of South Osage Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance. A male and a female were identified. The female said the male had been physical with her and had a small cut to her lip, but refused medical attention. Kern was placed under arrest and put on a 24-hour hold for domestic assault.

6:50 p.m.: John L. Debates, 46, of the 21000 block of Glenn Road, was arrested after a traffic stop near West Broadway Boulevard and South State Fair Boulevard for expired vehicle registration. Debates had a revoked driver's license and was transported to the police station, processed and released with a summons for driving with a suspended license, expired vehicle registration, failure to register a vehicle, and no proof of insurance.

9:23 p.m.: Mark Timothy Prall Sr., 61, of the 200 block of East Boonville Street, was arrested after he came into the lobby of the police department for a theft report. Prall reported a theft but was the suspect in a theft that occurred previously in the 500 block of South Ohio Avenue. After Prall reported his theft, he was arrested for stealing and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.

11:53 p.m.: Brandon Jackie Cooper, 34, of the 1500 block of South Grand Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to McAnally Court in reference to trespassing. Officers arrived on scene to find Cooper fleeing through the backyard. He was quickly captured. The reporting party said he was attempting to kick in her back door. Cooper was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of trespassing, public peace disturbance, resisting arrest and fourth-degree assault.

July 15

10:52 p.m.: Larry D. Brown, 44, of the 1200 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested after officers responded in reference to a domestic disturbance. Brown had threatened to kill a subject in front of two small children at the residence and was transported to the Pettis County Jail. Brown also was found to have an active warrant out of Miller County.

2:04 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a shoplifter. Asset protection had caught Nicole L. Brown, 48, of the 5000 block of Dogwood Circle, shoplifting and she was released with a city summons for misdemeanor stealing.

July 16

12:24 a.m.: Juan L. Cacari, 38, of the 1300 block of South Grand Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to a 911 call. They found a large party and a fight. Carari had fled the scene on foot, but after a short pursuit, he was apprehended. He had an active failure to appear warrant from Warren County and was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a fit of confinement, then the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold for felony possession of a controlled substance and felony resisting arrest.

Incidents

July 11

12:29 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 100 block of Rebar Road in reference to a theft. The victim stated her bike was stolen from the location. There is video footage, though, at the time of the report, the suspect had not been identified.

5:20 p.m.: Officers responded to the police department lobby in reference to a hit-and-run accident near West 32nd Street and South Limit Avenue. The reporting party said her vehicle was struck earlier in the day and the suspect vehicle fled the scene. The suspect has not been identified.

July 13

8 a.m.: The Sedalia Police Department took a report from a resident of another state who completed a purchase from an individual in the 400 block of West Fifth Street on Facebook Marketplace and was defrauded. The case is under investigation.

July 14

5:32 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a structure fire in the 500 block of East 27th Street. A detached garage was on fire but was quickly extinguished by the Sedalia Fire Department. It is being investigated for arson.

5:42 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the police department lobby to take a burglary report from the 600 block of South Grand Avenue.

9:22 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to East 10th Street and South Marshall Avenue for a report of possible shots fired at an address in the area. Witnesses directed officers to a residence where it was believed multiple shots had originated. Subjects were removed from the residence and it was cleared. Officers determined the residents had been shooting off firecrackers. A report was completed for documentation.

July 15

9:38 a.m.: Officers took a report of stolen clothing in the 1700 block of South Lamine Avenue.

11:22 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Fifth Street in reference to property damage. Victims found bullet holes in their vehicle and residence. A suspect has not been identified, but officers found another residence that had been struck by a bullet. No contact was made.

12:30 p.m.: A woman entered the lobby of the police department to report that a man known to her had been tracking her whereabouts. A report was completed.

12:34 p.m.: An officer spoke with a woman over the phone from the 800 block of East 13th Street regarding an issue with a roommate. The female told officers her house was shot during a disturbance.

9:03 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the lobby of the police department in reference to a theft in the 200 block of East Booneville Road. The victim said someone stole his hearing aids while he was sleeping. No arrests have been made.

July 16

1:26 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1800 block of South Beacon Avenue in reference to a burglary and theft. The victim stated his garage was entered and electrical wiring was stolen. There is a suspect.

4:44 p.m.: Emergency crews were dispatched to a business in the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. Investigation revealed an altercation had occurred in the parking lot and a vehicle fled, but a person had been reaching inside of it and subsequently fell from the vehicle and was run over. The vehicle then fled the scene of the accident. The victim was flown to the University of Missouri. A suspect has been developed and the case remains under investigation.

6:15 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of a stolen motorcycle. A report was made, a subject was identified, and the investigation is ongoing.

Arrests

July 14

11:28 p.m.: Harlan W. Dilday, 53, of Holden, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and a lane violation. He was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center and released.

11:30 p.m.: Ella L. Frakes, 19, of Kansas, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and speeding. She was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

July 15

1:30 a.m.: Jacob L. Beck, 25, of Iowa, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, no valid driver's license, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.
