This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

July 12

7:55 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of West Morgan Street in reference to a hit-and-run. The caller said she parked her car earlier in the day and discovered it had been hit when she came out. No arrests have been made at this time. 

July 14

10:09 p.m.: The Sedalia Fire Department was dispatched to a garage fire in the 600 block of West Fifth Street. When they arrived on the scene they quickly extinguished the fire. A check of the scene revealed fireworks may have been the cause. There is no evidence indicating who discharged the firework. 

July 15

8:03 a.m.: An officer responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street in reference to a firearm being found on a resident’s front lawn. The caller said it was not his and officers took it. 

6:25 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of South Ingram Avenue for a disturbance. They made contact with a man and his juvenile son who was refusing to go home after committing felony property damage. Officers convinced the juvenile to go home and a report was taken. Charges are being requested through the Pettis County Juvenile Office. 

July 16

4:31 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1000 block of South Osage Avenue for a burglary report. A man reported that the lock on his shed was cut overnight and several of his tools were stolen. 

July 18

10:48 a.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 600 block of South Hancock Avenue for a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim stated her vehicle was stolen from the parking lot while she was inside. 

July 19

1:37 a.m.: Officers took a possible abuse report over the phone from Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Hospital staff reported the possible abuse of a child in Sedalia. A report was completed by officers.

Arrests

July 16

8:26 p.m.: Tracy Myles, 27, of the 6100 block of Blue Jay Boulevard in Pettis County, was arrested after deputies responded in reference to a physical domestic disturbance. Miles was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of second-degree domestic assault and second-degree kidnapping.

Arrests

July 15

8:55 p.m.: Cory E. DeVries, 30, of Ankeny, Iowa, was arrested in Morgan County for boating while intoxicated, failure to display navigation lights, and no boater safety card. He was released.

8:56 p.m.: Genaro Sarmiento Sanchez, 41, of Beatrice, Nebraska, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released. 

9:50 p.m.: Brent A. Schreiner, 58, of Maple Hills, Kansas, was arrested in Morgan County for not displaying navigation lights and boating while intoxicated. He was released on summons.

11:29 p.m.: Mark A. Baty, 58, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, speeding, and driving in the left lane. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

July 16

3:24 p.m.: Stacey L. Howell, 50, of Gilliam, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated – drugs and speeding. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released. 

9:33 p.m.: Jason C. Fischer, 39, of Gravois Mills, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while suspended, no seat belt, and a Camden County misdemeanor warrant. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail. 

9:49 p.m.: Paul R. Banlerberg, 57, of Shawnee, Kansas, was arrested in Morgan County for no navigational lights and boating while intoxicated. He was released.

July 18

6:38 p.m.: Pamela J. Price, 68, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in a crash. She was transported to the Benton County Sheriff's Department and released.
