This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 16

12:55 a.m.: Jennifer Lynn Smith, 41, of the 600 block of 16th Street, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to West 12th Street and Washington Avenue in reference to an intoxicated driver with minors in the vehicle. The witness said the vehicle was swerving and the driver was yelling. The vehicle was later located in the 100 block of East 16th Street and contact was made with the driver, who was determined to be intoxicated. Smith was transported to the police department, then the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked on charges of driving while intoxicated - prior offender, and endangering the welfare of a child. 

11:45 p.m.: Nelson Lopez Tello, 22, of the 1000 block of East 10th Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a careless and imprudent driver in the 1000 block of West 10th Street. Witnesses provided updated locations as the suspect drove across town until contact was made by officers. Tello was arrested, provided a breath sample, and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of driving while intoxicated. 

June 20

10:25 a.m.: Damarion J. Jones, 19, of the 500 block of North Stewart Avenue, was issued a citation after officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 400 block of North Stewart Avenue. An on-scene investigation led to the arrest of Jones, who was transported to the police department and released with a municipal summons for assault. 

July 21

6:08 p.m.: Levy G. Bell, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to the train station, 100 W. Pacific St., in reference to a disturbance. The officer spoke with a witness and a victim who said Bell walked up and started punching him for no reason. Bell was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and placed on a 24-hour hold pending a charge of third-degree assault. 

Incidents

July 20

1:18 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 2900 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. A male subject came into the business, reached over the counter and grabbed an unknown amount of product and left the business without paying. 

3:01 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a business in the 100 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a stolen vehicle. Officers spoke with several people on scene and documented the incident with a general information report. 

6:28 p.m.: Officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop at West 10th Street and South Ohio Ave. The driver has fled and has not been identified. 

7:22 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 800 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a stolen vehicle. Officers found the vehicle and returned it to its owner. They were able to identify the suspects, but were unable to locate them. 

July 21

9:14 p.m.: Officers took a report in the police department lobby in reference to a runaway in the 1200 block of East 18th Street. The complainant stated her juvenile daughter ran away from home and has not returned. The juvenile was entered as a missing person. 

11:21 a.m.: A victim came to the police department to report harassment from someone she knew. She produced texts from several incidents and the latest text told her to quit talking to others and used insulting language. The victim wanted to press charges

July 21

8:31 p.m.: Randy A. Waters, 58, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County for driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest. He was transported to the Benton County Jail and released.
