This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 9

8:47 p.m.: Dorothy Brown, 66, of the 500 block of West 22nd Street, was issued a summons after officers responded to the 2100 block of South Missouri Avenue in reference to an animal running loose. Officers made contact with the owner who was issued the municipal citation.

June 10

6:30 p.m.: Cheyanne Wiser, 21, of the 2500 block of West Main Street, was arrested after officers responded to West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue for a report of a hit-and-run accident. The victim reported a vehicle struck her from behind while she was stopped at the intersection. The suspect fled the scene following the collision. A suspect was identified, located, and arrested on a municipal charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. No injury was reported and the victim's vehicle sustained minor damage. 

June 12

12:24 a.m.: Joseph A. Zaremba, 51, of the 1600 block of Country Club Boulevard, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to East Third Street and South Marvin Avenue to assist on a traffic stop. The driver was intoxicated and was arrested and transported to the police department for a breath sample. He was then taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked for driving while intoxicated - persistent offender. 

8:24 a.m.: Tina M. Swatek, 59, of Sedalia, was issued a summons after officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a female subject sleeping on the side of the building. Swatek was identified and found to be highly intoxicated. For her safety, she was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a fit of confinement and was later transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed in 12-hour protective custody for possession of open containers of intoxicating beverages. 

12:24 a.m.: Judith Leigh Denney, 55, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to Walmart, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a subject lying in the parking lot. When officers arrived they located Denney and identified her from prior incidents. They knew she had been trespassed from Walmart and she was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was placed on a 12-hour hold for first-degree trespassing. 

2:05 a.m.: Andrew Eufinger, 26, of Cole Camp, was arrested after a traffic stop for failure to maintain a lane or to signal a lane change. The driver was intoxicated and was arrested and transported to the police department for a breath sample. He was then transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked on a charge of driving while intoxicated - prior offender. 

10:02 p.m.: Sam Lee Branstetter, 77, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a business in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a male who was trespassing. The male had been contacted earlier in the evening and issued a trespass warning for the business. When he returned, Branstetter was placed under arrest and transported to the Bothwell ER for a fit for confinement. He was then transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of first-degree trespassing. 

10:50 p.m.: Akeem S. Dickson, 25, of the 1000 block of Royal Boulevard, was arrested after fleeing from a vehicle stop near Broadway Boulevard and State Fair Boulevard. Dickson was located on Royal Boulevard near Ruth Ann Lane walking in the street. He was arrested without incident and was transported to the Pettis County Jail. He was previously warned about walking in the street.

10:50 p.m.: Christopher Jonathan Wright, 34, of the 1100 block of East Seventh Street, was arrested after a traffic stop for non-working brake lights on West Broadway Boulevard near South State Fair Boulevard. Wright was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

June 13

2:20 a.m.: Amy I. Clark, 43, of the 1500 block of South Prospect Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office after hearing there was a female banging on the door. She had run out of gas at the intersection and was found to have a revoked driver's license. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released pending charges of driving with a revoked driver's license. 

Incidents

June 6

5:16 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to an accident that occurred on West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue. Officers were told a vehicle was stopped waiting to turn south on South Limit Avenue and was struck in the rear bumper. Both drivers were identified and a crash report was generated. No injuries were reported and no vehicles were towed. 

June 10

9:35 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of South Ohio Avenue and West Sixth Street. During the investigation, it was found the license plate on the vehicle was improperly displayed. One license plate was seized from the suspect vehicle and will be returned to the Department of Revenue. 

June 11

2:28 p.m.: Officers responded to the 900 block of South Kentucky Avenue in reference to possible property damage that occurred within the last week. A window was broken out of the residence valued at approximately $200. No suspects have been identified.

4:06 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to speak with a subject on the phone who wanted to report a lost white Galaxy Note 20 with a pink case valued at $1,400 at a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. She stated she forgot her cell phone at the checkout counter around 1 p.m. and came back and it was missing. There are no suspects. 

4:47 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 1100 block of East 10th Street in reference to property damage. A window, valued at approximately $500, was broken out of a vehicle overnight. A report was made to document the incident.

11:57 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. The complainant reported that a female who had previously stolen from the store had returned. After reviewing video footage it was determined the suspect had concealed items in her purse while inside the store and left without paying. She was identified and charges will be submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor. 

June 12

10:28 a.m.: Officers responded to the 400 block of North Washington Avenue in reference to a stolen bicycle. A bicycle valued at $110 was stolen out of the yard. The bicycle has not been located and no subjects have been identified.

1:33 p.m.: Officers took a report in the SPD lobby in reference to possible trespassing. The caller discovered evidence that led them to believe someone had attempted to break into an organization’s building in the 200 block of East Ninth Street. Nothing was taken or damaged. A report was made to document the incident. 

1:55 p.m.: The Pettis County Ambulance District, Sedalia Fire Department, and police officers responded to the Liberty Park Pool, 1600 W. Third St., in reference to what was initially reported as a possible drowning. It was later determined a juvenile had fallen at the pool and fell into the water. The juvenile was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment.

Incidents

June 10

8:20 p.m.: Deputies along with Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to Monsees Road and East U.S. Highway 50 for a domestic disturbance roadside. Contact was made with a male and female and the female was transported by Pettis County Ambulance District to a local hospital. Charges are being sought for endangering the welfare of a child and for the female.

Arrests

June 9

9:55 p.m.: Angela K. Barber-Cox, 60, of Bates City, was arrested in Johnson County for a felony probation and parole warrant and speeding, she was transported to the Johnson County Jail. 

June 11

2:17 a.m.: Travis L. Tatro, 25, of Liberty, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated - drugs, no insurance, and failure to have two light working headlamps. Tatro was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

9:26 p.m.: Jamari C. Todd, 19, of Jefferson City, was arrested in Moniteau County for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in a crash. He was released for medical treatment.

June 13

12:04 a.m.: Kyle l. Goldman, 24, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.
