Police Reports June 15

This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 12

9 a.m.: Sedalia police responded to a business on the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft in progress. An employee advised that a male subject had stolen a can of beer and was walking away from the business. Contact was made with the thief at their residence the next day and they admitted to the theft. Mario A. Madrid, 36, of the 300 block of West 10th Street, was arrested for shoplifting. 

9:41 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 600 block of East 14th Street for the report of an assault. The victim said the suspect had hit them and shoved them to the ground. Contact was made with the suspect who said the victim got their injuries in a traffic accident. James J. Baker, 20, of the 2000 block of East 14th Street, was arrested for felony third-degree domestic assault. 

7:13 p.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Ninth Street and South Ohio Avenue after a caller reported them for several moving violations. In addition, the vehicle had expired registration and obstructed view. A Police K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle. A search revealed several pieces of drug paraphernalia. Jade A. Buckner, 25, of the 2800 block of South Ingram Avenue, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. 

9:51 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of East Sixth Street for a domestic disturbance. One subject threatened to physically harm another individual who was a domestic victim. Cori L. Medeiros, 58, of the 1600 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested for fourth-degree domestic assault. 

June 14

12:58 a.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of East 15th Street and South Marvin Avenue for not having working license plate lights and making an improper turn. Investigation revealed that two occupants of the vehicle were in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Two were underage and had consumed alcohol. Jonathan B. Rogers, 27, of Otterville, was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Destiny N. Archambault, 20, of the 3600 block of Petree Street, was arrested for purchase/possession of alcohol by a minor. Nikki L. McCown, 19, of the 6500 block of McVey Road, was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and purchase/possession of intoxicating liquor by a minor. 

Incidents 

June 12

7:51 a.m.: Sedalia police responded to the 2000 block of East 14th Street for the report of a burglary and assault. The victim said someone broke into their residence, assaulted them,  destroyed property in the residence, and fled. 

5:31 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard to investigate a reported theft. Employees reported two subjects stole $544 worth of merchandise from the store. The merchandise was located in a nearby vehicle and returned. The suspects were not located at the scene. 

9:42 p.m.: Sedalia police responded to the area of West Sixth Street and South Missouri Avenue for the report of a gunshot. The caller said they observed a male and female in an altercation and the male fired a round at the female as she walked away. No arrests had been made at the time of the police report. 

June 13

9:09 a.m.: An officer responded to the 1700 block of South Osage Avenue in reference to a theft that had happened overnight. The victim said someone broke the driver’s window of their vehicle and stole their wallet which contained their license and debit card. A suspect had not been identified at the time of the report. 

9:18 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 500 block of West Broadway Boulevard for the report of a theft. The victim said around 1 a.m. June 9 someone entered their home and stole around $4,000 and a credit card from his pocket. The victim said he believes he knows who the thief is. 

9:40 a.m.: Sedalia police responded to the 1700 block of South Osage Avenue for a burglary and theft. The residence owner said someone entered the detached garage overnight and stole a lawnmower. Suspects had not been identified at the time of the report. 

12:29 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 900 block of South Kentucky Avenue for a burglary. The victim said an individual or multiple individuals broke into their residence and stole a self-propelled lawn mower, an internet router, and food. 

June 14

3:18 a.m.: Sedalia police were dispatched to the 2000 block of West 14th Street in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The victim said a power washer had been stolen from the bed of their truck. No arrests had been made at the time of the police report.
