This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 17

9:18 a.m.: Michael K. Wright, 60, of the 400 block of Welch Court, was arrested after officers were dispatched to Walmart for a trespassing complaint. Officers observed the suspect urinating into a trash can near one of Walmart's entrances, and he was issued a summons for indecent exposure. 

11:11 p.m.:  Marcus D. Minor, 44, of Union, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Arlington Avenue for a defective tail light. The driver was found to have a suspended driving status and was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released. 

June 18

12:07 a.m.: Kathleen A. Kraft, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested after police responded to the 500 block of South Grand Avenue for a disturbance. Contact was made with the victim who informed police a theft occurred and that he knew who the suspect was. The value of the stolen items was approximately $440. Kraft was later located and placed under arrest and was transported to the Pettis County Jail 24-hour hold any charges of stealing and a related charge from another case. 

12:51 a.m.: George Elwood Buckner Sr, 59, of the 200 block of West Cooper Street, was arrested after a traffic stop at Ohio Avenue and West Ninth Street for numerous traffic violations. The driver was in possession of crack, methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Buckner was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges for two counts of felony drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

1:15 a.m.: Juan M. Marcos Herrera, 30, of the 1900 block of West Fifth Street, was arrested after a traffic stop near West Main Street and North Park Avenue on a vehicle with excessive window tint. The driver had a suspended driving status and was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released with a charge of driving with a suspended license. 

1:55 a.m.: Christopher Hicks, 51, of  Evansville, Indiana, was arrested after a traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and Granny Lane on a vehicle that had failed to come to a complete stop and failed to signal. Hicks was intoxicated and transported to the police department where he refused to provide a breath sample. A search warrant was obtained and a blood draw was conducted. Hicks was then transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked. A charge of driving while intoxicated has been submitted to the prosecutor. 

11:39 p.m.: Brandon J. Cooper, 33, of the 1500 Block of South Osage Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to the 300 block of South Lamine Avenue for a report of a violation of a court order. Cooper continued to yell, was drinking alcohol in the roadway, and was arrested for loud noises, littering, failure to obey/resisting arrest, and an open container. 

June 19

12:30 a.m.: Kathleen Aurora Kraft, 33, of Stover, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 500 block of South Grand Avenue for a disturbance. The primary physical aggressor was identified and Kraft was arrested for Fourth-degree domestic assault. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold. 

12:57 a.m.: Autumn L. Byrd, 29, of the 300 block of McAnally Court, was arrested after officers were dispatched for a domestic assault. A victim stated his girlfriend punched him in the face during an argument. She left the residence but later returned and admitted punching the victim in the face. Byrd was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail and was charged with third-degree domestic assault.

10:16 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the main gate of the Missouri State Fairgrounds, 2503 West 16th Street, for an incident involving two suspects trying to get into the fairgrounds. The female was found to be in no condition to take care of herself, and was arrested and taken to Bothwell for a fit of confinement. She was later transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold. 

11:05 p.m.: Officers responded to Bothwell Hospital for a report of a cat bite. Officers spoke to a female victim in the hospital and a report was completed.

Incidents

June 17

10:17 a.m.: An officer met with a complainant in the 1400 block of South Beacon Avenue who found a cell phone in his yard. It was entered into evidence for safekeeping. 

11:54 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 700 block of South Ohio Avenue for a property damage report. The business was egged sometime overnight causing minor damage. 

5:29 p.m.: Officers were informed by University Hospital in Columbia that a child abuse case had occurred in the 800 block of East Sixth Street. The victim suffered a spiral fracture of the left femur and was hospitalized at University Hospital. A child abuse hotline report was submitted to the Children's Division.

June 18

12:09 a.m.: Officers responded to East Fifth Street and South Washington Avenue in reference to an accident involving city property. The suspect vehicle had left the scene before officers arrived. A utility pole was knocked down.

1:11 p.m.: Officers responded to the 700 block of North Missouri Avenue for a report of a disturbance. It was discovered that a male subject threw a cooler at the victim's vehicle causing damage. 

4:44 a.m.: Officers responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 E. 14th St., in reference to a vehicle theft. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and a pursuit ensued around Sedalia. The suspect was later apprehended by Pettis County Sheriff's deputies and charges are being submitted.

5:05 p.m.: An officer met a victim at the Bothwell Regional Medical Center who wished to report she had been assaulted. A family member allegedly struck her near the intersection of Osage Avenue and Broadway Boulevard.

10:27 p.m.: Officers responded to the 700 block of East 24th Street in reference to a runaway juvenile. The juvenile later returned to the residence before they could be entered into the system as missing.

June 19

7:25 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of South New York Avenue in reference to an assault that occurred earlier in the morning. The caller stated he was assaulted while at a friend's house because he was a witness in another incident. Further investigation determined that the caller started the fight while intoxicated. 

9:53 a.m.: An officer spoke with a victim in the 800 block of East Fourth Street who stated sometime overnight a scooter was stolen from his front yard. 

5:27 p.m.: An officer was dispatched in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim stated his daughter had parked the vehicle at McDonald's and sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. someone stole the truck. The vehicle nor the suspect have been located. 

6:22 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of West Seventh Street regarding a stabbing. Parents and witnesses said a juvenile female and juvenile male were playing in boxes. As the female was crawling through the boxes, the male poked the box with a knife, stabbing the female. She was treated at Bothwell Regional Health Center. 

6:57 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Avenue where a suicidal subject armed with a knife was walking along the railroad tracks. Officers used de-escalation tactics and were able to convince the subject to go to Bothwell willingly for help. There were no injuries to the individual, public or officers. 

8:58 p.m.: Officers took a report of property damage from the 400 block of East Broadway Boulevard. A male subject stated an unknown suspect threw something at his car breaking his sunroof.

Incidents

June 17

7:19 a.m.: Deputies took a report of theft of diesel fuel in the 17000 block of Wisdom Road in Pettis County. The investigation continues.

Arrests

June 17

8:11 p.m.: Andrew M. Smith, 38, of Lowry City, was arrested in Johnson County for a Blue Springs warrant, an Odessa warrant and failure to register a motor vehicle. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail. 

10:52 p.m.: Nelson R. Reitz, 48, of Sedalia, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to have two lit headlamps. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

June 18

11:15 p.m.: James M. Wheeler, 31, of Columbia, was arrested in Benton County for driving while intoxicated. He was released. 

June 19

1:18 a.m.: Joseph L. Norris, 38, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was arrested in Saline County for felony delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful use of a firearm. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold. 

5:57 p.m.: Gina M. Robinson, 59, of Eldon, was arrested in Morgan County for felony driving while intoxicated – persistent offender. She was transported to the Morgan County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
