This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 24

4:55 p.m.: Jared W. Sanders, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 800 block of South Limit Avenue for a peace disturbance. The subject was yelling at people and punched a Jeep in the area. The officer arriving on scene made contact with several subjects who indicated the suspect was causing alarm. The suspect came walking into the parking lot where he was placed under arrest for public peace disturbance. Sanders spit in an officer's face before being put in the back of the patrol car and charges of assault are also being requested. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of State charges of first-offense peace disturbance and third-degree assault.

June 28 

2:31 p.m.: Melissa L. Dorsey, 32, of the 1300 block of East Broadway Boulevard, was issued a citation after a traffic stop near West 28th Street and Kentucky Avenue for speeding. She had a revoked driver's license and was subsequently issued a municipal citation for driving while revoked.

2:41 p.m.: Gary C. Nickerson, 72, of the 27000 block of Lamms Lane, was arrested for shoplifting at a business in the 2400 block of South Limit Avenue. After being apprehended by loss prevention officers, the subject was cooperative and released with a court summons for stealing.

7:22 p.m.: Eric Ryan Janes, 36, of the 1300 block of Walker Circle, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a license violation. Janes fled on foot and was arrested after a short foot pursuit. A search of the vehicle resulted in finding a large amount of methamphetamine. Janes was charged with second-degree drug trafficking, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license.

June 28

12:10 p.m.: An officer took a report of possible physical child abuse-non sexual. A report was completed and sent to the Department of Social Services Children's Division.

12:47 p.m.: An officer took a report over the phone regarding forgery, identity theft, and stealing in the 900 block of West Third Street.
