This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

March 4

3:28 a.m.: Savanna M. Romero, 20, of the 3100 block of Brianna Boulevard, was arrested for driving with a suspended license after officers conducted a vehicle check in the south parking lot of Katy park. Romero was transported to the Pettis County Jail. She was booked and released pending city charges for driving with a suspended license.

March 8

10:10 Brandon Lee Ulmer, 34, and Cassandra R. Rey, 31, both of the 3400 block of Westlake Drive, were arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 32nd Street and South Limit Avenue for a license violation. Both were in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and glass pipes. Both were arrested for possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

March 9

9:02 a.m.: Anna L. Eads, 43, of Columbia, was arrested after a complainant found her in a hotel room in the 3500 block of West Broadway Boulevard that was supposed to be vacant. Checking further revealed someone had entered the ground-level room through the window. Eads refused to say who brought her to Sedalia, or any pertinent information concerning the incident. She did state she did not have the money to pay the fare, did not have an address, and had no phone number. Eads was arrested for theft/failure to pay for services and was transported to the Pettis County Jail.  

11:06 a.m.: Gregory Lowell Carlock, 61, of the 1700 block of South Grand Avenue, was issued a summons for failure to obtain a permit to burn after a member of the Sedalia Fire Department called stating they were out with a subject who was burning leaves illegally. Upon arrival, an officer issued a summons for illegal burning.

6 p.m.: Kevin Louis Hanson, 52, of the 1400 block of West 11th Street was issued a summons for failure to obtain a burn permit. A member of the Sedalia Fire Department called stating they were out with the subject who was burning leaves illegally and had failed to obtain a burn permit. Upon arrival, an officer issued the subject a summons for illegal burning.

12:00 p.m.: Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of West 32nd Street and South Limit Avenue for a license violation. The vehicle failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens and fled west on Route B. The officer turned off his lights and sirens and did not pursue the vehicle.  

Incidents

March 8

4:21 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of North Mill Street in reference to a theft report. An electric wheelchair and license plates were stolen from the residence. The stolen items were entered into MULES and NCIC.

7:27 p.m.: A report was taken in the SPD lobby in reference to a theft at a business in the 100 block of Rebar Road. The complainant stated he prepaid for gas and forgot to pump it. He later returned and a female subject pumped the gas that he had purchased. The female subject has not been identified at this time.

1:38 a.m.: A person came to the SPD lobby and stated that a known suspect stole four checks from him and forged his signature on the checks in an attempt to cash the checks herself. The victim stated that the suspect was able to get away with $860 before he was able to stop the payment.  

March 9

1:32 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim said her ex-husband kicked in her back door and threatened to kill her prior to fleeing the scene. State charges of burglary, property damage, and fourth-degree domestic assault are being submitted to the prosecutor.

2:05 p.m.: A subject reported that at 6 p.m. March 7 they went to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard and used the ATM. On March 9 the victim checked his transactions and found $56.96 had been taken from his account that was unverified by him. The victim believes a subject that was roaming around him somehow was able to use the ATM to take the money. The victim was given a report number to take to the bank.  

5:30 p.m.: Officers were sent to the 900 block of South Harrison Avenue in reference to two aggressive dogs having the victim cornered in his car. The dogs belonged to the resident of a nearby residence. The homeowner stated she could not manage the dogs. Animal control came to the scene and caught the dogs, and the owner surrendered them to the shelter in lieu of charges of animals running at large and attacking/fighting.

8:05 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1900 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of suspicious activity. When officers arrived, the victim said a male broke a window out of her house.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Office

March 9

9:27 p.m.: Jeremy Futscher, of Sedalia, was arrested after deputies attempted to assist a black Nissan Altima driving along the shoulder of U.S. 50 west of Dresden Road. The driver appeared to be having vehicle problems and had his hazard lights flashing. According to Sheriff Brad Anders on Facebook, the deputies attempted to stop and assist the motorist but when he saw the emergency lights, he fled at speeds reaching 15 mph. The driver ultimately fled the vehicle, ran through a couple of fields and across Highway 50 where deputies observed him hiding. He was arrested without incident. A check through dispatch revealed a no-bond warrant out of Pettis County and a $5,000 warrant out of Saline County, both felonies.
