Sedalia woman killed in Pettis accident

A Sedalia woman was killed and two juveniles were injured in a three-vehicle accident at 5:56 p.m. March 13 in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred as a 1990 Ford driven by a 16-year-old male from Sedalia was traveling on 32nd Street near Rissler Road behind a 2013 Toyota driven by another 16-year-old male from Sedalia. As the vehicles slowed to yield to an oncoming 2007 Saturn, driven by 33-year-old Christina Rice, at a narrow bridge, the 1990 Ford attempted to avoid the 2013 Toyota and swerved into the oncoming lane, striking the Toyota on the driver’s side and striking the Saturn head-on. The Saturn traveled off the roadway and struck a ditch. The Ford overturned, coming to a rest in the roadway on the wheels. 

Rice, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by Pettis County Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center where she was pronounced dead at 7:03 p.m. 

The juvenile male in the 1990 Ford, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at the scene. A 13-year-old female in Rice’s Saturn, who was not wearing a seat belt, was seriously injured and was transported by air ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia. 

Deepwater man killed in Benton crash

A Deepwater man was killed and five others received injuries in a three-vehicle accident at 4:10 p.m. March 14 in Benton County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 2009 Town and Country driven by Derrick R. Spain, 27, of Warsaw, was northbound as a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Bailey C. Jelinek, 24, and a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 driven by Alan C. Haverland 63, of Deepwater, were southbound on state Route 7 near Walking Horse Lane. Spain's vehicle crossed the center line and struck Jelinek’s vehicle head-on. The vehicles rotated counter-clockwise and were struck by Haverland's vehicle. 

Jelenik, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene by the Benton County Coroner. 

Kayla A. Reeves, 25, of Warsaw, was not wearing a safety device in the Chrysler Town & Country and received serious injuries. She was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center then University Hospital in Columbia. Three 1-year-old female occupants were wearing safety devices in the Chrysler Town & Country and were transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center with minor injuries. Spain, who was not wearing a seat belt, received moderate injuries and was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center. 

Higginsville woman hurt in Benton crash

A Higginsville woman received moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 6:53 p.m. March 14 in Benton County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Julie M. Kirk, 50, was driving a 1999 Honda Accord southbound on U.S. Route 65 near state Route 7 when it traveled off the right side of the road, struck a culvert, and came to rest. 

Kirk, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported to Bothwell Regional Medical Center.

Rockville woman hurt in Henry crash

A Rockville woman suffered moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 9:25 p.m. March 14 in Henry County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Tanja L. Doles, 36, was driving a 2014 Ford Mustang southbound on state Route K south of Southwest 600 Road when she lost control on the wet roadway, causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the road and down an embankment. 

Dole was not wearing a safety device and was transported to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

Clinton woman hurt in accident

A Clinton woman suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 3 p.m. March 14 in Henry County.

Lilli R. Stimpson, 29, was injured March 14 at 3 p.m. on MO-72 east of County Road Northeast 91. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Lilli R. Stimpson, 29, was driving a 2010 Kia Soul on state Route 72 east of County Road Northeast 91 and slowed for traffic when a maroon 2013 Ford Fusion driven by Susan G. Jones-Hard, 59, of Clinton, struck the rear of her vehicle. 

Stimpson was transported for medical assistance by private vehicle.

Both drivers were wearing safety devices.

Centerview man injured in accident

A Centerview man received minor injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 12:01 a.m. March 14 in Johnson County. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Dylan T. McKenzie, 23, was driving a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Southwest Division at Northwest state Route 58 when he failed to stop at a stop sign. His vehicle traveled off the road and over a barbed-wire fence before coming to rest in a field. 

McKenzie, who was wearing a safety device, was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by private vehicle.

Child hurt in Johnson County wreck

A 12-year-old female received minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 6:07 p.m. March 12 in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Benjamin D. Johnson, 35, of Clinton, was northbound in a 2018 Ford Expedition on state Route 13 and began slowing to turn onto Southwest 21st Road when a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Isaac A. Burchett, 33, of Mayfield, struck the rear of the vehicle before traveling off the road and coming to a controlled rest. 

The 12-year-old, a passenger in Johnson’s vehicle, was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by Johnson County Ambulance District. 

All three people were wearing a safety device.

Two injured in Johnson County crash

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident at 4:28 p.m. March 12 in Johnson County. 

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred as Jessica A. Craft, 23, St. Louis, was driving a 2003 Toyota Matrix southbound on state Route 13 at North 1050th Road. She crossed the center line to begin overtaking a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Gabe C. Pearson, 24, of Odessa. The Toyota Matrix struck a northbound 2017 GMC Terrain driven by Matthew D. Cunningham, 48, of Higginsville. Debris from the crash caused minor damage to Pearson's vehicle. Craft’s vehicle came to rest in the west ditch, and Cunningham’s vehicle came to rest in the east ditch. 

Cunningham, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by private vehicle. Craft, who was wearing a seat belt, received moderate injuries and was transported to WMMC by Johnson County Ambulance District.

Warrensburg woman injured in crash

A Warrensburg woman received moderate injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 2:20 p.m. March 12 in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Roxana S. Richey, 68, and Travis C. Berney, 31, of Tipton, were traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 50 near state Route 151. Richey was making a left turn in a 2005 Ford Freestyle at the median crossover when it was struck in the rear by Berney’s 2016 Ford F150. Both vehicles came to rest in the median. 

Richey, who was wearing a seat belt, received moderate injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by Johnson County Ambulance District. 

Teen seriously injured in ATV accident

A 13-year-old male was seriously injured in an ATV accident at 11:30 a.m. March 13 in Morgan County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred as a 12-year-old male from Tipton lost control of a 2018 Polaris Sportsman 450 ATV while going around a curve on Syracuse Road south of U.S. 50. The vehicle traveled off the left-hand side of the roadway and overturned. 

The 13-year-old was transported to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City by ambulance.

Neither youth were wearing a safety device. 

Four teens injured in ATV accident

Four teenagers were injured in an ATV accident at 5:30 p.m. March 10 in Saline County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 2021 Yamaha Kodiak 450 driven by a 16-year old male from Malta Bend was traveling too fast on a gravel road on Daybreak Avenue at 290th Road, began skidding and overturned, coming to rest in the roadway. 

None of the accident victims were wearing safety devices. 

A 14-year-old female from Mt. Leonard and a 15-year-old male from Malta Bend received serious injuries. A 16-year-old male from Malta Bend and a 14-year-old female from Malta Bend received minor injuries. The 14-year-old with serious injuries was taken to University Hospital in Columbia. The others were taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
