This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Arrests

Feb. 28

10:04 p.m.: Shelby Marie Batzel, 41, of the 1700 block of South Grand Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop for failing to maintain a lane and an investigatory stop for a revoked driver who also had a warrant. Batzel was the suspect and a passenger had methamphetamine. Both were taken to jail. Batzel was booked for driving with a revoked driver's license and her warrants. The passenger was booked for possession of a controlled substance.

Incidents

Feb. 8

7:01 p.m.: A sexual harassment report was taken for an event that occurred in the 100 block of West Third Street. Suspect information was provided and charges are being sought for harassment and second-degree sexual misconduct.

Feb. 28

11:14 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of property damage. The victim stated that morning a man known to her came to the residence and damaged two of her vehicles. She called the police while he was still there, but he left the scene prior to the officer's arrival. The victim's estimated damage was $600. At the time of the report, the suspect has not been located for questioning. Charges of trespassing and property damage are being pursued.

6:26 p.m.: A subject came to the police station to report their phones were stolen from a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. They stated they were working and set the phones on a cart. A short time later, they were missing. The estimated value is $1,000.

Pettis County Sheriff's Office

Arrests

Feb. 28

1:10 a.m.: Driver Melissa E. Tobin and passengers Tammy Despain and Bear Hagston were arrested after the Pettis County K-9 unit and deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of Lamine Avenue and Main Street in Sedalia on a vehicle displaying an expired Missouri temporary tag. The K-9 was deployed to sniff the vehicle and alerted. A search was conducted, locating a sizable amount of methamphetamine. Tobin was arrested for operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license. Despain and Hagston were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
