This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Feb. 26

8:10 p.m.: Peter Engman, 38, of Keiser, Arkansas, was issued a municipal court summons near the intersection of West Fourth Street and South Moniteau Avenue for possession of marijuana. A traffic stop was conducted for a stop sign violation. Marijuana was located inside the vehicle.

10:50 p.m.: Miguel A. Zaragoza, 26, of the 1500 block of East Ninth Street was arrested near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Grand Avenue on a charge of resisting arrest. A traffic stop was conducted and the officer ran the driver’s name through a computer check. Dispatch reported the driver had a Pettis County warrant. When the officer told the suspect to get out of his vehicle, he refused and did not comply until forced to. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail.

Feb. 27

6:55 p.m.: Enrique S. Canseco, 26, of the 1500 block of South Grand Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of West Third Street and South Kentucky Avenue on a charge of driving with a suspended license. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with improperly displayed license plates. A computer check of the driver showed him to have a suspended license.

Feb. 28

6:43 p.m.: Diana Homan, 32, of the 100 block of South Washington Avenue, was arrested on charges of abuse of a child and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Two children were interviewed at Child Safe of Central Missouri regarding allegations of physical abuse by someone known to them. One of the children had injuries consistent with what she disclosed about the abuse. The child was taken to Children’s Mercy for a medical evaluation. Contact was made with the alleged perpetrator, who was taken into custody without incident and placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

11:26 p.m.: Jalane L. Brake, 28, of the 2200 block of West Fourth Street, was arrested near the intersection of South Gentry Avenue and West Fourth Street on a charge of driving with a suspended license. A vehicle was located and the registered owner had a suspended license. The driver matched the description of the registered owner. An investigative stop revealed the driver was the registered owner.

March 1

1:58 p.m.: Travis C. Bell, 41, of the 1200 block of South Stewart Avenue, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Stewart Avenue. Officers made contact with a male driver who showed signs of intoxication. After doing field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail.

Incidents

Feb. 26

8:28 p.m.: An SPD officer and the Sedalia Fire Department responded to the 600 block of South Hancock Avenue for a dumpster on fire. SFD quickly extinguished the fire. The incident is under investigation.

Feb. 27

8:41 a.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 3900 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of property damage. The manager said sometime overnight the front sliding doors were tampered with. The damage was estimated at $500.

10:50 a.m.: An officer responded to Boonslick Regional Library at 219 W. Third St. for a report of property damage. An employee said sometime overnight someone had broken one of the library’s concrete benches valued at $600.

10:55 a.m.: Property damage to a residence was reported in the 700 block of East 17th Street. The incident reportedly occurred between Feb. 23 and Feb. 27. The damage is valued at $800.

Feb. 28

6 a.m.: A complainant reported a vehicle struck mailboxes in front of a residence in the 200 block of South Grand Avenue. The vehicle left the scene.

Arrests

March 1

1:12 a.m.: Deputies and Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force detectives conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and Grand Avenue for no rear taillights and expired tags. Deputies learned two of the passengers gave false identity information. Kenneth E. Pfeffer was arrested on charges of identify theft and introducing contraband into a county jail. He was also served a Benton County Warrant. Ricky B. Longie was arrested on a charge of identity theft. He was also served a Camden County warrant. Both subjects were placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of charges.
