This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

March 16

4:34 p.m.: Melinda Sue Lamb, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested after police observed a vehicle with registration violations in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue. The driver, who had a suspended driving status, was arrested without incident and transported to the SPD for processing. Lamb was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license. 

March 19

3:39 p.m.: Michelle E. Nash, 52, of Sedalia, was arrested after a traffic stop at East Broadway Boulevard and South Massachusetts Avenue. An odor of marijuana initiated a search of the vehicle which revealed the rear seat passenger was in possession of marijuana. Nash was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked and released. State charges are being requested.

3:19 p.m.: John D. Cole, 50, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to West Ninth Street and South Limit Avenue for a subject check. The reporting party believed the subject was either high or intoxicated. Officers made contact with the subject and asked him to step out of the van. It was determined the subject had a revoked driver's license and a misdemeanor warrant from Benton County. Cole was taken into custody and transported to Pettis County Jail where he was held pending a $750 cash or surety bond for the warrant and a misdemeanor charge of driving while revoked.

9:40 p.m.: Donald Christopher Gibbs, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested after an officer responded to the 1000 block of East Fifth Street in reference to a sex crime. After an investigation, it was determined the suspect solicited sexual acts from the victim for money. The suspect was arrested on charges of harassment and patronizing prostitution. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail place on a 24-hour hold.

March 20

1:04 a.m.: Barry Darnell Simmons, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested after a traffic stop was performed for a vehicle with no front license plate in the area of South Grand Avenue and West 10th Street. The driver had a revoked Missouri driver's license and was in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. He attempted to dispose of the marijuana to prevent its discovery and attempted to bribe the officer to not request charges. Simmons was transported to the Pettis County Jail for driving while revoked, possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, bribery of a public official, and misdemeanor tampering with physical evidence.

1:52 a.m.: Ana Guadalupe Velarde, 40, of Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested after officers responded to the 500 block of South Grand Avenue for a possible disturbance. Velarde was determined to be the primary physical aggressor and was arrested, transported to the Pettis County jail, and booked on second-degree domestic assault. 

10:04 p.m.:  Russell A. Wright, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop near West 16th Street and Thompson Boulevard for no rear license plate light. Wright was arrested for driving while revoked/suspended and transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold while State charges were sought.

10:15 p.m.: Dustin T. Harms, of Sedalia, was arrested after a traffic stop for a headlight out and no front plate on East Third Street and South Lafayette Avenue. After an investigation, it was found the driver was in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested, transported to Pettis County Jail, booked on a 24-hour hold, and charged with possession of methamphetamine. 

10:22 p.m.: Cyann ML Simmons, 18, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Thompson Boulevard for an active disturbance. Following an investigation, Simmons was arrested on a charge of third-degree domestic assault. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending filing of the charge. 

11:50 p.m.: Mikee Rashon Wilson, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested after a car was stopped for no front plate on West Seventh Street and South Missouri Avenue. After an investigation, it was determined he was intoxicated by drugs and was placed under arrest, transported to a hospital, and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on a state charge of driving while intoxicated.

March 21

12:12 a.m.: Karry W. Scott, 47, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers observed a vehicle making an incomplete stop and failing to maintain the right side of the roadway near East Second Street and South Lamine Avenue. Scott refused to give a breath sample, so officers obtained a search warrant for his blood. He was booked into the Pettis County Jail on a felony driving while intoxicated charge for a 24-hour hold pending charges. 

7:12 p.m.: Mario D. Logan, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to the 1100 block of South Harding Avenue for a disturbance. An investigation determined a primary physical aggressor from an incident that occurred on March 15. Logan was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of third-degree domestic assault. 

10:10 p.m.: Gretchen Siercks, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested after a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates near South Grand Avenue and West 10th Street. It was revealed Siercks was intoxicated by marijuana and a search of the vehicle revealed marijuana and related paraphernalia. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated (drugs). A passenger, David A. Vanhooser, 22, was in possession of a handgun. Vanhooser was arrested for illegal possession of a concealed weapon. Both were transported to the Pettis County Jail with Siercks booked and released for driving while intoxicated and Vanhooser placed on a 24-hour hold.

March 22

3:16 a.m.: Damon L. Lewis, 45, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers made contact with a subject walking in the roadway near South Missouri Avenue and West Fifth Street. The subject was advised not to walk in the roadway and officers obtained consent to search. One-tenth of a gram of methamphetamine was found on Lewis’ person. He was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail on 24-hour hold pending charges of possession of methamphetamine. 

Incidents

March 15

2:38 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 700 block of West 16th Street in reference to a theft in progress. Two male suspects fled the scene on bicycles and dropped some of the stolen merchandise. The suspects are currently unknown. 

March 19

10:42 p.m.: A complainant reported to the police department a fraudulent charge on her bank account. The charge of $1,400 was reported to her bank. There is no suspect information. 

March 20

2:53 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the Missouri State Fairgrounds regarding a stolen gun with a value of $623. The gun was entered as stolen. There is no suspect information. 

6:26 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1900 block of South Montgomery Avenue for a report of theft not in progress. The victim stated that someone had taken vehicle parts out of his garage with a total of $800. 

March 21

6:25 p.m.: an officer was dispatched to the SPD lobby in reference to a theft that occurred earlier in the day at a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. An assets protection employee stated a customer entered the store, filled up a shopping cart with $624.55 worth of items and left without paying.

10:27 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of South Limit Avenue for a report of a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated she was involved in an accident with another vehicle in the parking lot and the other driver immediately left the scene.

March 22

2:54 a.m.: An officer took a report over the phone in reference to a theft that happened in the 1400 block of South Prospect Avenue. The victim stated they dropped their phone outside and did not notice it was missing until the next day. A family member texted the phone and got a response from an unknown person stating they have the phone but don't plan on returning it. There are no known suspects at this time.

Arrests

March 19

7:50 p.m.: William Lawson, 57, of Sedalia, was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the 1400 block of Elm Hills Boulevard regarding an assault. Lawson was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold for second-degree domestic assault. 

11:22 p.m.: Alexander Weisner, of Sedalia, was issued a summons for careless and imprudent driving after deputies observed a Honda Accord on West Main Street near South Park Avenue going 63 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone.

March 20

8:30 a.m.:Shalnev Alexandr was arrested after deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of U.S. Highway 50 and Crestview Drive for speeding. Alexandr was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail for driving with a revoked license and two Pettis County warrants.

Incidents

March 18

6:30 a.m.: Deputies responded to the 400 block of South Myrtle Street in La Monte to answer a 911 call of a domestic assault in progress. When deputies arrived the parties were separated and one male subject was taken into custody.

March 19

2:30 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to the 17000 block of Bristow Road on a theft report. The reporting person stated someone stole a catalytic converter from a truck.

March 21

1:17 a.m.: A Green Ridge woman reported a missing runaway juvenile to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office from the 200 block of West Walnut Street.

March 20

2:07 a.m.: Christopher L. Woolery, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, and no insurance. 

11:40 p.m.: Jason L. Preeo, 47, of Warsaw, was arrested in Henry County for driving while intoxicated and speeding. 

March 21

12:28 a.m.: Chadwick E. Lamb, 45, of Marshall, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated. 

1:15 a.m.: Derek W. Weir, 33, of Urich, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated (drugs) and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

1:52 a.m.: Shaun M. Sim, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated, speeding, and no insurance. 

5:04 p.m.:  Mark A. Leroney, 52, of Dittmer, was arrested in Morgan County for felony possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of paraphernalia, and failure to produce insurance. 

7:53 p.m.: Justin S. Blatt, 41, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested in Benton County for felony possession of a controlled substance, felony driving with a revoked license, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. 

March 22

11:14 a.m.:  Garry G. Brunner, 35, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County for felony possession of marijuana.
