This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

March 24

9:41 p.m.:  Lashanta N. Potts, 22, of the 500 block of North Washington Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop on East 25th Street and Acker Drive for a speeding violation. A computer check showed Potts had a suspended driving status. She was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked and released.

March 25

5:37 a.m.: Marcos Alejo Rubio, 38, of the 1200 Block of South Moniteau Avenue, was arrested after a truck cut off an officer by improperly turning northbound on South Moniteau Avenue onto eastbound Broadway Boulevard. A check revealed Rubio was suspended out of Missouri. He was placed under arrest and transported to the SPD and released with a municipal summons for driving while suspended. 

5:21 p.m. Jasmine U. McCartney, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to the 1300 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of trespassing. A female subject, whom officers had previously issued a trespass warning to, was at the residence trying to enter. McCartney was arrested for second-degree trespass and taken to the Pettis County Jail for a 24-hour hold.

8:23 p.m.: Lashawn Stewart, 25, of the 1000 block of East 10th Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop in the area of South Engineer Avenue and East Seventh Street for an unreadable temporary tag. The car was also observed weaving. It was determined that Stewart was in possession of marijuana, impaired by drugs, and driving without a license. He was arrested, transported to a hospital, and then transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on State charges of driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle without a valid license, and possession of marijuana, pending release to a sober person.

10:55 p.m.: Jovan K. Cruz, 28, of the 600 block of East 10th Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in reference to a medical call. The caller informed dispatch there was a male asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot of the restaurant. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license and was transported to the Pettis County Jail after a consensual blood draw. The driver was placed on a 24-hour hold pending official charges. 

Incidents

March 24

10:02 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of Ensign Drive regarding a burglary. It was reported that the suspects were banging on the victim's front door and announcing themselves as police. The suspects were found on Deseret Drive and stated that they made a mistake in the house they went to, explaining that all the houses look alike.

2:42 p.m.: An officer took a report of a vehicle that had been stolen the previous night from the lot of a business in the 100 block of West 17th Street. The victim reported they were having their vehicle worked on and it was stolen off the lot of the auto shop. The keys to the vehicle were stored in the shop at the time of the incident. The shop has video of the incident.

5:01 p.m.: A complaint in the SPD lobby reported someone had come to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard the previous day and stole four items and conducted a fraudulent return. Overall, the store lost $400.69.

March 25

1:16 p.m.:  Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of McAnally Court regarding shots fired. The subject got into a physical altercation with another subject and fired two shots at them. The suspect had left the area by the time the officers arrived. The following charges were being requested: assault first-degree, armed criminal action, endangering the welfare of a child first-degree, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

8:46 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of East Chestnut Street for a concerned parent reporting a rumor that a student was bringing a gun to school the next day. The school staff and security were already aware of the comments and were working on a solution.

Incidents

March 26

2:28 a.m.: Charles Cody Edwards, 27, of Columbia, was arrested after deputies were dispatched for a reported wrong-way driver. The vehicle was located with Edwards unconscious behind the wheel. The driver woke and fled, almost striking a deputy. A pursuit ensued which ended in Boonville on I-70 after spike strips were deployed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Edwards was arrested and is on a 24-hour hold for resisting arrest, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and creating substantial risk of serious injury/death. Pettis County deputies were assisted by units from the Saline County Sheriff's Office, Cooper County Sheriff's Office, and MSHP.

March 25

2:43 p.m.: Jami A. Iwasko, 34, of Lincoln, was arrested in Benton County for driving while intoxicated.
