This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 11

12:54 p.m.: Cornelius L. Bentley, 66, of the 400 block of North Osage Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop for being known to have a suspended license near South Moniteau Avenue and West Second Street. Bentley was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released for driving with a suspended license.

Sept. 12

9:22 p.m.: Zaida Lynn Ptomey, 22, of the 200 block of East Second Street, was arrested after a vehicle crash was reported in the 1300 block of South Lamine Avenue. A vehicle had struck two parked vehicles and fled. The suspect vehicle was located in the 1000 block of South Ohio Avenue and the driver was intoxicated. Ptomey was released with municipal citations for driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.

Incidents

Sept. 11

1:08 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue for a failure to return rental property. The manager said a subject rented a PlayStation valued at $842 and no payments were made. No contact has been able to be made with the subject and, as he has not been able to be located, the item was entered into the MULES statewide database as stolen.

3:06 p.m.: Officers responded to the 800 block of East Fourth Street in reference to an assault. The reporting party said he was assaulted by a woman known to him. Charges were submitted to the prosecutor's office.

Sept. 12

8:25 a.m.: Officers responded to the 100 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a fake $100 bill that was used at the business. A report was made of the incident.

10:44 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1300 block of East Sixth Street in reference to a property damage report. The reporting party said overnight, his vehicle was damaged. No suspects have been identified.

Incidents

Sept. 12

6 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to Highway NN in Sweet Springs for a theft report. The reporting party said that around 10 p.m. Sept. 10, a silver van entered the property and a man took several items with a value of more than $1,200. The suspect is a bald white male with a goatee, shorts, a T-shirt and boots. A report was passed to detectives for further investigation.
