This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 28

12:31 p.m.: Ed D. Houdek Jr., 66, of the 300 block of East Seventh Street, was arrested after a traffic stop for speeding in a school zone in the 1700 block of South Kentucky Avenue. The driver had a suspended driver's license and was arrested and transported to the police department for booking. He was released on a municipal summons.

4:39 p.m.: Lori Lynn Hadley, 49, of the 1600 block of Engineer Avenue, was arrested after Sedalia police responded to a business in the 800 block of South Limit Avenue for a person they wanted to be expelled from the store. The suspect refused to leave and the complainant wished to pursue charges for trespassing. Hadley was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of trespassing. 

8:33 p.m.: Michael Torres, 21, of the 1500 block of South Osage Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop on a vehicle with no front license plate near South Osage Avenue and West 16th Street. Torres had a suspended driver’s license and was arrested, transported to the Sedalia Police Department, and released with a charge of driving without a license. 

Sept. 29

1:47 a.m.: Hanna Jo Rodewald, 22, of the 1000 block of South Mildred Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop in the area of West 16th Street and South Beacon Avenue for following too closely. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the SPD for processing, then released to a sober person with a municipal charge. 

Incidents

Sept. 23

9:44 a.m.: An officer received a Children's Division hotline report regarding a juvenile subject that had been sexually assaulted in the 1500 block of West Third Street. 

Sept. 27

5 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1500 block of South Osage Avenue in reference to a stolen bicycle. The bike’s value was estimated at approximately $399. 

Sept. 28

10:33 a.m.: An officer took a report in the SPD lobby from a victim who made online purchases from an internet advertisement. The victim was later instructed to purchase two Walmart gift cards in the amount of $500 each to assist in fixing her order. The victim sent the card numbers to the suspect. At the time of the report, it is not known if she will receive the items she purchased. A suspect in the case is unknown.

11:31 a.m.: Officers took an identity theft report in the SPD lobby. The victim reported there had been purchases made on her Walmart.com account that she did not authorize. 

11:43 a.m.: Officers responded to the 700 block of West Main Street for a burglary report. The victim stated they had computer equipment stolen and there was also damage to a television.
