This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Nov. 30

5:25 p.m.: Kenneth Lee Johnson, 57, was arrested on a charge of trespassing. An officer responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street for a report of trespassing in progress. Officers made contact with Johnson and arrested him.

10:20 p.m.: Travis Dale Martin, 27, of the 200 block of South Missouri Avenue, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and unlawful transaction with a child. An officer stopped Martin’s vehicle in the area of West Third Street and South Vermont Avenue for speeding, failing to use a turn signal and disobeying a stop sign. Investigation during the traffic stop revealed Johnson was operating the vehicle without a valid license and was in possession of methamphetamine and related paraphernalia.

Dec. 1

5:25 p.m.: Bobbie J. Williams, 42, of the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard, was arrested on a charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer saw a vehicle operating without lights in the area of West Fourth Street and South Moniteau Avenue. At that time of day, vehicle lights were required. The officer stopped the vehicle and ran all of the occupants through a computer check. The driver, Williams, showed to have a revoked license and three active warrants.

Dec. 2

1:20 a.m.: Jesse L. Contreras, 21, of the 1500 block of Honeysuckle Road, received a municipal court summons for possession of marijuana. An officer stopped Contreras’ vehicle near West 16th Street and South Beacon Avenue. Through investigation at the scene, the officer reportedly found Contreras was in possession of marijuana and issued him a municipal citation.

4:30 a.m.: Kayla M. Denny, 23, of Green Ridge, received a municipal court summons for possession of marijuana. An officer conducted a vehicle check on Denny’s car near South Kentucky Avenue and West 15th Street. Through investigation at the scene, Denny was found to have an active Pettis County failure to appear warrant. She was arrested and then found to be in possession of marijuana.

9:35 p.m.: Glenn T. Grant, 33, of Marshall, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and failure to properly display license plates. An officer stopped Grant’s vehicle near South Grand Avenue and West 14th Street. Through investigation at the scene, the officer reportedly found Grant to be in possession of marijuana and several suspected ecstasy pills.

11 p.m.: Jacob L. King, 23, of the 1500 block of East Fourth Street, was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of South Park Avenue for a burglary report. Dispatch advised a subject could be seen in a building behind the residence. The officers arrived and spoke with the suspect and the victim, who said no one was to be in the building. King was arrested and, upon a search following the arrest, was found to be in possession of a syringe that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Incidents

Dec. 1

10 a.m.: An officer spoke with an employee from a girls’ home in reference to a possible sex crime. The employee said one of the girls at the home left the residence and had sex with a prohibited person.

11:45 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3500 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. The complainant said someone stole a water heater valued at $3,000 from the property. The theft occurred between Thursday and Friday.

1 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of South Grand Avenue to take a burglary report. The victim said someone entered her residence and stole a TV while she wasn’t home.

Dec. 2

3:55 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a gas station in the 100 block of East 16th Street for a report of an electronic device found in one of the gas pumps. The technician who found it said the device is called a skimmer and is used to acquire credit card information. At the time of the report, there were no suspects and no reports of credit card information from the gas station being used. The technician said the skimmer has to be plugged into the inside of the credit card section of the gas pump and could have been there for several weeks or months. The investigation is ongoing.

Arrests

Dec. 1

5:35 p.m.: Johnnie S. Sherrill, 56, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, careless and imprudent driving, not wearing a seat belt and not having insurance.

9:40 p.m.: Stephen O. Dority, 53, of Cole Camp, was arrested in Benton County on charges of felony driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked license.

Dec. 2

2:25 a.m.: Darren L. Heaton, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to use a turn signal.

5:30 a.m.: Leslie M. Maxwell, 19, of Lone Jack, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, minor visibly intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

1:45 p.m.: Charley K. Cornish, 54, of Fulton, was arrested in Saline County on a charge of felony possession of methamphetamine.

1:50 p.m.: Shannon D. Bowen, 44, of Fulton, was arrested in Saline County on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

7:20 p.m.: Pamela M. Campbell, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on a charge of felony tampering with physical evidence.
