This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 9

12:35 a.m.: Stephen G. Lappat, 29, of the 1000 block of West Third Street, was arrested on a felony charge of third-degree domestic assault. An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of West Third Street for an assault report. The complainant said Lappat had beaten and humiliated her earlier. She had a broken lip and bruises. The officer spoke with Lappat, who said the complainant beat him up. He had no apparent injuries. The officer took him into custody.

6:55 p.m.: Lisa A. Whiteman, 49, of the 1000 block of West Ninth Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license and license plates required. An officer stopped Whiteman’s vehicle near East Broadway Boulevard and South Center Avenue. Through investigation at the scene, the officer found she was driving with a suspended license and had an active municipal warrant.

8:40 p.m.: Lindsey M. Emery, 29, of the 400 block of Buckner Court, was arrested on a charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer found Emery’s license was revoked after stopping her vehicle near North Ohio Avenue and East Morgan Street.

10:50 p.m.: Auston H. Carlock, 29, of the 300 block of Buckner Court, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Carlock’s vehicle near West Saline Street and Buckner Court for an expired registration. A computer check of his information showed his license was suspended.

Incidents

July 7

2:30 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the parking lot of a nursing home in the 1700 block of West 16th Street in reference to a theft report. After an investigation on scene, the officer found someone had rummaged through several vehicles and items were missing. The vehicles were left unlocked, and several wallets were missing from inside.

Incidents

July 8

12:25 a.m.: Deputies were patrolling the 2600 block of Dogwood Court when they attempted to speak with three subjects. One of the subjects took off running when a deputy tried to make contact with them. While speaking with the other two subjects, the deputies received a report of vehicle damage near the area where the subject ran from them. A 2013 Dodge Charger sustained about $750 in damage or more. At the time of the report, the deputies had no suspects, but there are several people of interest they would like to speak with. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office or the tips hotline.

3:50 a.m.: Deputies took a report of several car burglaries in the area of the 4900 block of Vernon Road. They had no witnesses or suspects at the time of the report. Deputies encourage anyone who sees a person looking into vehicles or appears to be suspicious to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
