This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Nov. 17

12:05 a.m.: Richard Andrew Jones, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. An officer responded to the area of West Seventh Street and South Osage Avenue for a subject check. He spoke with Jones, who consented to a search of his person. The officer found a small bag of marijuana.

2:55 a.m.: Christopher J. Miller, 33, of Sweet Springs, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Miller’s vehicle near West 20th Street and South Quincy Avenue for an equipment violation. Dispatch informed the officer that Miller’s license was suspended.

11:10 p.m.: Antoinette Lynn Korecky, 37, of the 1400 block of Airpark Road, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license and improper lane usage. An officer took Korecky into custody after stopping her vehicle near South New York Avenue and East 14th Street.

Nov. 18

2:10 a.m.: Ira D. DeMois, 61, of the 1800 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested on charges of third-degree felony assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of East Sixth Street for a reported domestic assault. They arrived on scene and spoke with the parties involved. DeMois said he came home from a bar and a woman known to him hit him. He denied doing or saying anything to cause this. The woman said he came home from the bar and started arguing with her. She said he went to hit her, so she hit him first. They were able to separate before he reportedly pulled a gun out of a cabinet and pointed it at her. Witnesses on scene said DeMois was the aggressor in the incident and started the fight. The officers took DeMois into custody.

8:25 p.m.: Quinn A. Wilson, 17, of the 1300 block of East 14th Street, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of marijuana. An officer was dispatched to Smith-Cotton High School in reference to a student with marijuana. A faculty member said several students smelled an odd odor coming from a room in the school. The faculty member located the source of the odor and found marijuana in a plastic baggie in Wilson’s drawstring bag. Wilson reportedly admitted to possessing the marijuana. She received a municipal court summons and was released to family members.

Incidents

Nov. 16

10:05 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of North Engineer Avenue for a runaway juvenile report. The complainant said the juvenile ran away after a physical fight with a sibling. Officers checked the area around the residence, but they were unable to find him. The juvenile is a 14-year-old boy about 5-feet tall and weighs 100 pounds. He has long brown hair and blue eyes, and he was last seen wearing a T-shirt and black pants.

Nov. 17

6:30 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 2400 block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a burglary alarm. They found a glass door broken on the east side of the business. Additional officers arrived, and they cleared the building. No one was found inside. After further investigation, they determined a suspect threw a rock at the door, breaking the glass. The suspect entered the building but exited a few seconds later. Nothing was reported missing.

11:20 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a gas station in the 3400 block of East Broadway Boulevard for an assault. He spoke with a victim and a witness. A video camera caught the suspect pull up to the gas station, get out of his vehicle, punch the victim, get back in his vehicle and drive away.

4:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 2200 block of South Washington Avenue for a report of a theft. The caller said a golf cart was stolen from behind the residence.

Nov. 18

12:20 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of South Washington Avenue in reference to a stolen vehicle report. The victim said he was out of town when his brother-in-law contacted him to say his his dirt bike had been taken from the front of the house. The victim said the dirt bike was a Chinese Manufacturing MX80 with a large dent in the black gas tank and red zip-ties holding the frame together. He said the kick-start was not working on the dirt bike.

1:45 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Morgan Street in reference to a domestic assault. Both parties were separated for the night as the suspect went to get treatment at the hospital. The officers are seeking a charge of fourth-degree domestic assault against the suspect.

Nov. 17

4:10 p.m.: Kenneth E. Birlingmair, 65, of Smithville, was arrested in Benton County on charges of driving while intoxicated and lane violation.

Nov. 18

12:10 a.m.: Marvin R. Hammond, 57, of Lowry City, was arrested in Henry County on charges of felony driving with a revoked license, felony possession of methamphetamine, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and failure to register a motor vehicle.

12:20 a.m.: Ryan Howes, 24, of Kingsville, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving.

12:20 a.m.: Stephon E. Brown, 24, of Lone Jack, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, leaving the scene of a crash and failure to display valid license plates.

11:45 a.m.: Vena M. Brown, 75, of Sweet Springs, was arrested in Saline County on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

4:30 p.m.: Eric S. Spiers, 45, of Warsaw, was arrested in Henry County on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.

11:35 p.m.: Leteze S. Robinson, 26, of Kansas City, was arrested in Henry County on charges of failure to register a motor vehicle, excessive window tint, not having proof of insurance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

11:35 p.m.: Calvin R. Pickens, 32, of Kansas City, was arrested in Henry County on charges of felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and not wearing a seat belt.
