Swearingen instrumental in Bothwell Foundation transformation
For 11 years, Stafford Swearingen has been a fixture at Bothwell Regional Health Center, serving in many volunteer roles. He joined the Bothwell Foundation Board of Directors in 2011 and held terms as vice president and president. Bothwell Regional Health Center is renovating this building at 700 S. Hancock Ave., which was formerly the medical office for family medicine physician Dr. Joy Gronstedt. The building will open in March when Bothwell Eldenburg Family Practice will move there. A second walk-in clinic is planned to open in the building in late summer.

The Bothwell Board of Trustees has four new members after the Sedalia City Council approved at its Dec. 19 meeting to appoint two new members to fill uncompleted terms and expand the board from seven members to nine. more
Bothwell Regional Health Center’s new yearlong nurse residency program allows new nurses to receive additional education, direct clinical experience and emotional support on the path to becoming practicing nurses. The program begins two times in January and June. Applications are accepted from nursing students preparing to graduate within the next six months or graduate nursing students who have fewer than 12 months of experience. Jonathan Brown, DO, will join the Bothwell Regional Health Center medical team Feb. 20 as a general otolaryngologist. He will see patients at Bothwell Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and perform surgeries at the hospital. more

In February 2017 when walking into a clinic for a doctor’s appointment, Kelsey Roberts collapsed and stopped breathing. Clinic staff resuscitated her with an automated external defibrillator (AED). Roberts was pregnant at the time and delivered a healthy baby girl later that year. She named her daughter Heartlee and said the name holds special value for her for its connection to a family name and to the life-saving efforts made to restart her heart.
