Man overturns in Johnson County

A driver was hurt in an overturn crash at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday in Johnson County.

Fred J. Vance, 49, of Edwards, was eastbound on U.S. Route 50 when he failed to negotiate a curve 200 feet east of Northwest 671st Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

He crossed off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail. His vehicle traveled into the median and overturned onto its left side.

Vance wasn’t wearing a seat belt and had minor injuries. He received treatment at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Woman hurt in icy crash

A woman crashed on an ice-covered bridge in Henry County at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Angela M. Parks, 19, of Lowry City, was driving north on state Route 13 when she lost control in the icy conditions at South Grand River Arm, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Her car struck the bridge rail.

Parks was wearing a seat belt. She took a private vehicle to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton for treatment of minor injuries.

Car crashes into guardrail

Two people were caught in a single-vehicle accident as their vehicle struck a guardrail at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in Henry County.

Donnie S. Garrett, 74, of Deepwater, was northbound on state Route 13 when his vehicle hit a patch of ice, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

He traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail face. His vehicle crashed into the guardrail and came to a rest on the right shoulder.

Garrett suffered minor injuries in the accident. A passenger, Hazel M. Garrett, 78, didn’t report any injuries but accompanied Garrett as he went by ambulance to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. Both had been wearing seat belts.

Columbia man hurt in Pettis collision

A Pettis County collision left a Columbia man with injuries at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Jared M. Hinshaw, 21, was eastbound on U.S. Route 50 when a vehicle pulled onto the highway in front of him, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Sung U. Sin, 66, of Warrensburg, attempted to cross U.S. 50 on northbound Route D and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

Hinshaw suffered minor injuries in the collision. Sin didn’t report any injuries from the impact. Both drivers had been wearing seat belts. A private vehicle took Hinshaw to Western Missouri Medical Center.

Iowan overturns in Pettis County

A driver from Iowa overturned in Pettis County at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday.

David A. Garberding, 63, of Milford, Iowa, was southbound on U.S. Route 65 when he lost control on an ice-covered bridge north of Route BB, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. His truck slid off the left side of the highway and rolled over, landing upright on a guardrail.

Garberding had minor injuries and chose to seek medical attention on his own. He was wearing a seat belt during the crash.

Sedalian hurt on U.S. 65

A vehicle passenger was hurt on U.S. Route 65 at 4:28 p.m. Tuesday in Pettis County.

Harold Williams, 64, of Sedalia, was driving north on the highway when he lost control north of Route BB and struck the guardrail, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

A passenger in the vehicle, Vonda Curd, 49, of Sedalia, suffered minor injuries. Both Curd and Williams were wearing seat belts during the crash. The Pettis County Ambulance District took Curd to Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Car crashes on I-70

Icy conditions caused a crash on Interstate 70 at 12:43 a.m. Wednesday in Saline County.

Sean F. O’Connel, 55, of Newburgh, Indiana, was westbound on the highway when his vehicle began sliding on ice, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

He traveled off the left side of the roadway where he struck another vehicle on the side of the interstate. O’Connel returned to the road and came to a rest in the right lane of traffic.

A passenger in his vehicle suffered moderate injuries. Melissa Baez-Guiliani, 22, of South Bridge, wasn’t wearing a seat belt and went in a Sweet Springs ambulance to Fitzgibbon Hospital.
